Great Italian Food in New York City, not to be missed

Olive Oil Cake! I had to start this review with our dessert, it was soooo good. A little salty, a little sweet it was just spot on and I highly recommend it. We had a great dinner here, but I would say it was "very good" not "excellent". Our waiter was just ok. Nice, but when I was served totally flat sparkling wine and said something I noticed him laughing about it right in front of us at the bar with the bartender. Small thing, no biggie. The food: Beef carpacio, amazing!... More

L' Artusi was AMAZING, start to finish. We love good food, and wine. This is one of those places where the tastes were unique. The menu was creative. The standard dishes, like beef carpaccio, were done in an original way. For us, this was an outstanding meal, start to finish. GREAT cocktail menu. GREAT mains. GREAT service. GREAT desserts, Just... We have been here twice now and both times the food has been excellent. We all ordered different dishes and if it was appropriate we would have licked the plates. The downside -is they were/are very busy, cocktails were slow, and delivery of food was erratic.

We visited L'Artusi with our daughter and son in law last night and as always it was a special experience. The menu is rather limited, but none of us had any trouble finding an entree that we liked. Our daughter is vegan and the chef made a special delicious dish to suit her. The menu is primarily Italian and the... More

Came to this restaurant on a chilly Wednesday night and we were happy to have made a reservation as the place was packed. Lots of people also waiting to be seated or having drinks at the bar. We were seated downstairs which is not the best place for a romantic dinner as it is a little cramped and very noisy.... More

I really recommend this restaurant. The service is great and the food is very tasty. I have been there twice and it was always a nice dinner. I recommend sitting upstairs because it can be noisy downstairs sometimes.

The West Village streets were empty on a chilly weekday evening. When we entered L'Artusi we were surprised to see how many people were drinking, dining and waiting to be seated. We squeezed through the crowd and made our way to the hostess. Our 6:30 reservation was honored immediately and we were seated at the counter looking right over the... More

I was very impressed. We went for a large company outing, and the setup was fantastic. Upstairs they have a room that can be sectioned off for events of about 15 people. The service was fantastic and the Italian wine list was voluminous. All of the pasta dishes that I tried were fantastic and their kale salad was phenomenal.

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
