Really enjoyed our dinner here

I went to the Brasserie Cognac for a pre-theater dinner, and I was not disappointed. In fact, they exceeded my expectations for a restaurant of that price. Lovely faux-French interior, with a wide-ranging menu. Food was very good. Service was fine, although not fabulous. Overall it was a good... read more

I go to NY city a few times a year and I always stay at dream hotel across the street from this brasserie. I start by saying that I get to go to this restaurant a few times every staying. Food is delicious and is the right spot for a late lunch. Before going to the airport I stopped at... More

I just had the Salade Niçoise. It was OK and had the right ingredients - but quite small for $17 and vinaigrette was not very traditional or tasty like it should have been.

This is one of those places to dine when you want good decent food at a decent price. Just a few blocks south of Carnegie Hall, Brasserie Cognac offers a lovely menu with something for everyone's taste. They have a good selection of wine from around the world. Loved the appetizer of Gougères - baked just right, and the texture... More

First trip to NY and walked by this place multiple times and it was always packed so we made reservations. Boy were we happy! Unfortunately our lunch was still with us so we ate light but would have loved to explore the menu more. I had the scallops and my husband had the halibut. Best scallops I've ever had...anywhere! Service... More

Nice all around. Cheese puffs were a nice start. Cassoulet was tasty. Lots of things on the menu sound interesting to try on another visit. Service was attentive.

Lots of menu choices, all of them tempting. Food was excellent, atmosphere was excellent, prices are reasonable (for New York). Loved the idea of cognac tasting which they offer, though I didn't have an opportunity to indulge; maybe next visit!

My first bite of the quiche of the day, which was ham and cheese, woke up my taste buds. Delicious! The quiche came with a side salad which was tasty. My brother ordered the Eggs Benedict, and he was just as pleased. There is a Prix-fixe brunch menu or the regular menu to order from. The staff were friendly and... More

We were going to see Cabaret at Studio 54 and this was just a block+ away. We never felt rushed and the service was superb. The food was quite good and generously portioned. I had the Mussels Frites and the Onion Soup, my BF had the Goat Cheese Tomato Tart (it was divine) and the chicken. Everything was cooked well... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
