Solid restaurant week pick

A college roommate and I meet up for restaurant week each summer, and try a different place each year. We find that it's a low risk way to sample new places and new dishes. Brasserie Cognac did not disappoint. We both had the summer salad and porcini risotto; she had the coconut cream caramel and I... read more

Tonight my wife and I ate dinner here and we were generally satisfied with what we ate. Her a la carte dinner of scallops and cucumber soup and a glass of wine cost $59 including tip and tax, and my3-course restaurant week dinner of escargot, hangar steak w/ fries and peach cobbler cost $51 including tip and tax. These days... More

Grabbed a quick dinner here after a Broadway show - the sirloin and filet perfectly done to my taste. Liked the cognac a - blaze presentation. Nice big froth on my c-chino too. Overall decent value and good food. I really give it a 3 & 3/4 stars btw.

The poor quality of the food we tried,on the lunch menu, in no way merits the high price charged. The portions are minimum in size; the beef bourgonone was small and dry; the grilled octopus portion, no matter as an appetizer or extra as a main dish, was stingy; the filet mignon burger was passable, but nothing stand out. Those who... More

The restaurant is very pretty and set up in classic bistro style. It serves a business crowd (I work down the block) and tourists (Central Park is a few blocks away). It's not fake French either. It happened to be Bastille Day and there was a party crowd even at lunch. The menu has character (a steak flambe) and the... More

Had a wonderful lunch here one day and found everything we had to be excellent. Great Calamari and the Fois gras starter were excellent! The beef mains were all excellent! Everyone was happy with their meal! Great atmosphere and service! Will be back in the future!

We decided to try this brasserie as it was close to our hotel - we had the house chicken salad for lunch on the first day and tried the place again for breakfast - the food is great, service quick and the staff really friendly. A great example of simple food done well and definitely recommend this place for breakfast,... More

Looking for a place to have breakfast near Columbus Circle I chanced upon this charming Brasserie. Very friendly service and normal noise levels in a superb Americanized version of a French bistro. I had Orange cinnamon French toast with fruit and enjoyed every bite of it. My table companions had a.o. eggs Florentine and smoked salmon Benedict. We were all... More

We actually came here twice during our stay in NYC. It is across the street from the Dream Hotel which we were staying at (disaster, read my review about that pls). The first time we came in we ordered our beloved steaks, they were filet mignons and it was amazing! The sauce is also heavenly. I think we paid around... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
