In July 2007, New York welcomes Johnny Utah's, the urban cowboy experience, to Rockefeller Center. The Johnny Utah's experience begins with cuisine full of flavors & spices which embody the real meaning of Southwestern food. With hearty recipes of our cultural ancestors, Johnny Utah’s will offer a menu full of zesty Texan BBQ ribs, savory steak fajitas, & authentic Mexican tequila. Almost every seat in the house has a view of the dining room’s main attraction, Manhattan’s only mechanical bull. Showcasing the full essence of the Southwestern theme, the beast is theatrically surrounded with cascading metal chains & burning candles that echo “rings of fire,” signifying the celebration of the icon. The interior was designed as an interpretation of an old western mining shaft with salvaged antique tiles & pony-hide furniture. Johnny Utah’s is sure to serve as an ideal location for both delicious Southwestern food & drinks, & late night reveling & bull riding.

Excellent drinks, everything you could wish for and some interesting cocktails. Basement bar opposite the Rockefeller Centre. Great value and popular with New Yorker's

We came here for drinks around 10pm till 3am as young group (25-20 years old) and it was such good fun. Very chilled, casual dress, good music, beer drinking and bull riding...what more can you want from a chilled night out! Worth a visit for anyone in a group just looking for a good few laughs for the night.

Looking online I saw this restaurant was open on Sunday and the menu sounded very interesting, hubby and i walked there and nope it wasn't open, even though on the door it stated it was open on Sunday at the time we were there. Ok a fluke and since again both their website and hours posted on the door indicated... More

Walking down the stairs into Johnny Utah's was pretty neat. Not very busy for lunchtime but service was a little lacking as well. Almost like we were imposing. There is a mechanical bull in the middle of the restaurant and they were setting up tables that made it obvious that it's more of a nighttime place. Food was good. Food... More

It's virtually in the basement of the Rock Center Club Quarters, a great hotel I highly recommend. However, don't waste your time going into this place with its mechanical bull and crummy bar food. There are so many other authentic NY neighborhood pubs in midtown where the food and service are top rate, like O'Lunneys on 49th.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
