Far exceeded expectations. Book this!

We booked the Bar Room rather than the restaurant based on the reviews we had read on trip advisor.. The bar room was not like a ball at all and this is not a museum restaurant as you would expect. The interior is classy and has a great buzz with a casual section adjacent to the bar and then more... read more

This is the second time I've eaten at The Modern, and, as was true for my first visit, the food and service were impeccable.

Stopped by for drinks before dinner. Andrew, the bartender, was engaging and made killer drinks including a custom one.

The food is extremely well presented and tasty. The service is impecable. The view is to the sculpture's garden of the museum. A bit expensive.

Want a little secret place with great cocktails and delicious apps - this is the place. While dinner wasn't memorable, it could be because we were distracted by the delicious cocktails. They also have a stellar wine list. I'd recommend this place for a date or a conversation - lively but you can hear yourself talk and think - rare... More

I love this place. The restaurant is a little too pricey for my wallet, but the bar is just as good and more affordable. I had lunch solo at the bar after visited MOMA, and everything I ate and drank was terrific. Had a glass of (French) Meursault--white Burgundy--that was worth every penny of its $25 price tag. Otherwise I... More

Very chic and modern restaurant at the world famous Museum of Modern Art. We just got more excited about art….fantabulous! Tart Flambee Alsatian thin crust with creme fraiche onion and applewood-smoked bacon. Sorta, kinda like a tomato-sauce-less thin crust pizza. Very tasted and the “applewood-smoked” really speaks to your palate. Black Angus Beef Tenderloin with Munster gratin, onion confit and... More

Friendly, trendy and not expensive for one of the best places to meet a person. The service is good. To meet someone in a location at Moma (you don't have to pay museum entrance fee if you get if from the direct street entrance) is one of the best experiences in N.Y.

Two great and satisfying meals here. Food is elegantly presented, contemporary and delicious. The plates are UK rather than US sized but totally adequate for this family. We shared plates (can't eat like the Americans) We recommend the tarte flambee- we have not had better outside of France. The lobster sausage with its accompanying foam was a work of art.... More

Dinner was fabulous. Shared crab fritters and beet/pear salad for appys. Excellent. Had the branzino for entree; wonderful mushroom and spinach with sauce. Fabulous bellinis. Dessert was apple cider donuts; 5 small balls of wonderfullness. Yes it's expensive; this is manhattan. Just go; it's great. Service is perfect.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
