French Mediterranean Cuisine, YES Go Here

It's classic French cuisine, more than pleasant service, neighborhood eats here, soft jazzy music during Sunday's brunch, good wine selection, not much space so don't share to much info because everyone pretends not to hear you, sidewalk dining with a few, coveted seats outside.

Another fantastic dinner. Every time we one to NYC we try to.have a romantic dinner here and rarely get away to make it happen. Service excellent, food outstanding. And atmosphere unique and quaint. Another perfect outing.

Got caught up working in my hotel and realized it was 8 pm and I hadn't had dinner. Grabbed my umbrella and braved the wet night. I decided on walking a six block square figuring I'd get some fresh air and most likely find somewhere to eat. On second between 51 and 52 there were several great sounding choices but... More

In the block where this restaurant is located, there are many choices. However, this is a good choice. It had an appealing look and had pretty good reviews so we decided to try it Service left something to be desired as we had made a reservation and despite the fact there were plenty of tables, it took awhile for us... Located in a strip of restaurants, we chose La Mediterranee for an appealing interior, and some possible options for a vegetarian. It was a lucky choice as the food was pretty good, our vegetarian ate well and the resident piano player was entertaining but not intrusive. Prices were reasonable particularly given the bonus of the music, and ambience was very... More

This is my favorite spot in the city! My boyfriend and I come at least once a month, the steak and fries are delicious! Harold on the piano is great :) Very cozy and romantic and the staff is friendly and kind :) Mario treats us like family when we walk in, they know us by name. I recommend this... More

La Mediterranee is one those restaurants one goes to when good food, at a reasonable price and the ability to hold a civilized conversation without resorting to American Sign Language to get above the roar of the madding crowd. Ernesto runs a nice establishment and his kitchen is more than up to the task of classic bistro fare. On the... More

We were seated quickly and had a good meal. We started with a nice cheese and fruit plate and I followed this with the steak au poivre which was very good. Unfortunately, we were seated in the front window and the bartender was our waitress. There were a number of people in the bar, so this didn't work. The piano... More

Four of us spent time visiting New York City and ate several dinners here. They have a Fixed Price Menu that is only $28 before 6:30 or $38 after that. The Trout Almadine was wonderful as was the Onglet Steak. The appetizers were great and the Raspberry Sorbet for dessert was to die for. We all loved coming here.

For our final dinner in Manhattan, we picked La Mediterranee because it has live music in the dining room. It actually was a return visit for us; we ate there a year ago on our first trip to New York. We enjoyed the food and the music the first time and decided to try again. We encountered a slight cultural... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
