Great location and quaint setting. Very romantic. The menu is limited. The lobster ravioli is not very good. No texture or flavor. The price Fixe dinner is a great value. I had the french onion soup, which was excellent. The skirt steak entree, which was average, and the chocolate souffle, excellent. The piano player was good until the singer started... More

I was charmed by the cozy bistro decor & solicitous servers. Then a pianist started playing. We nursed a few drinks for an hour and then had a leisurely dinner. The glasses of wine were very generous. The three course dinner was good not great but the overall experience was reminiscent of a Paris bistro. Forget the soufflé and stick... More

Looking for a high quality, very affordable, comfortable and intimate (cozy) fine French Bistro we came across La Mediterranee French Bistro, just a few blocks off of Park Ave. Without a reservation on a Wednesday night we were seated and served promptly to wonderful entrees, including a mussels Provencal that was perfect. Nice wine selection and the piano player was... More

I remember eating once in this place in the early 90’s when I first moved to the neighborhood. It was dreadful: lousy food, dated décor and unacceptable service. I never went back, after all there are so many wonderful places to eat in this great City of ours! Sadly, on a rainy Saturday recently, I find myself in front of... More

It's a small and, therefore, cozy place. There's nothing too special about the food or service, but it's not a bad place to get a simple dinner with a few friends. The dishes we ate were tasty.

My food was okay: a small steak with abundant fries, which were too thinly sliced and too dry and crunchy for my liking. But what I really disliked was the waiter who was overly "attentive": He would pop up and interrupt us every other minute to ask us if we were ready to order, and later to collect our dishes... More

We were given a gift certificate to La Mediterranee because our friend wanted us to experience what New York was like before the chains and "cute" little eateries took over. When we walked in, we were greeted by the owner, Ernesto Morel, who has owned the restaurant for over 30 years. In the background was Harold, the piano player who... More

Had dinner here Saturday . They have a nice prix fixe menu and a wine list that is short but affordable. The food was tasty and the environment was small and warm. There was a man playing piano and at one point a man seated for dinner got up a sang beautifully ! The dessert soufflé is not to be... More

I used to come to this restaurant often when in NYC and over the past decade or so forgot about it. In the city with friends this weekend we were walking on 2nd looking for a restaurant and there it was, still there, with the same great prix fixe menu, same décor, same bistro atmosphere (I do believe that Harold... In our several visits to New York we always try to eat onceat this restaurant . Of course there are hundreds of restaurants in the Big Apple, certainly many others catering for French food, which we do not know, but after several good experiences and being in the neighbourhood, we sticked to this one. The place is small, with an... More
