Authentic Paris Bistro on NYC's 2nd Avenue

This is a Paris neighborhood bistro on NYC’s 2nd Avenue. Having been to many neighborhood bistros in Paris, La Mediterranee would fit right in. The menu is typical of what one would expect; the food and service are very good and the atmosphere is comfortable and pleasing. Prices are very... read more

I celebrated my birthday here in 2011. But the first time I landed at this restaurant was in late 90s and continued to go since the first visit. Recently I went back with 2 of my girlfriends to enjoy a beautiful dinner. I didn't realize when I gave a suggestion to meet here, it was the 35th anniversary of the... More

Lovely restaurant, says they are celebrating 35 th anniversary and I bet it hasn't changed in 35 years....... but sometimes old school still works and it does here. Really nice traditional food - half an avocado still with skin on with crabmeat, delicious starter ! So if you fancy cool and trendy this is not for you but go if... More

We had a business lunch there and I thought that the menu, service and ambiance were nice. I would rate it between 3 and 4. Restaurant was not crowded and we could hear French speaking couples at tables nearby. I take it as a good sign.

It's classic French cuisine, more than pleasant service, neighborhood eats here, soft jazzy music during Sunday's brunch, good wine selection, not much space so don't share to much info because everyone pretends not to hear you, sidewalk dining with a few, coveted seats outside.

Got caught up working in my hotel and realized it was 8 pm and I hadn't had dinner. Grabbed my umbrella and braved the wet night. I decided on walking a six block square figuring I'd get some fresh air and most likely find somewhere to eat. On second between 51 and 52 there were several great sounding choices but... More

In the block where this restaurant is located, there are many choices. However, this is a good choice. It had an appealing look and had pretty good reviews so we decided to try it Service left something to be desired as we had made a reservation and despite the fact there were plenty of tables, it took awhile for us... Located in a strip of restaurants, we chose La Mediterranee for an appealing interior, and some possible options for a vegetarian. It was a lucky choice as the food was pretty good, our vegetarian ate well and the resident piano player was entertaining but not intrusive. Prices were reasonable particularly given the bonus of the music, and ambience was very... More

This is my favorite spot in the city! My boyfriend and I come at least once a month, the steak and fries are delicious! Harold on the piano is great :) Very cozy and romantic and the staff is friendly and kind :) Mario treats us like family when we walk in, they know us by name. I recommend this... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
