Fast, good service, good food

I was strolling along and desired a French cafe for a Sunday morning breakfast. The decor landed pleasant atmosphere. Despite a number of tables, I did not feel squashed. The music was unusual for a Sunday morning, but was soft enough I did not notice it often. The food was very good and came in... read more

The music was unusual for a Sunday morning, but was soft enough I did not notice it often. The food was very good and came in American-sized portions. I've never seen... More

We hadn't made a reservation at any of our favorite restaurants along 46th St, commonly called Restaurant Row in NYC. Since we didn't want to wait for a table we wondered into Brasserie Athenee which is right on the corner of 8th and 46th street. What a great surprise. Although they we busy, they found a hidden table but we... More

If you're looking for a place you can grab a table, get some escargot, and similar French street restaurant fare together with a decent wine (but of course) the Brasserie Athenee serves the purpose well. The only really strange experience was the sorbet which took me a full 20 minutes to eat because it was so solidly frozen, they must... More

I ate breakfast at this place. I had French toast with "fresh" fruit. The french toast was nothing special, and I only got 2 pieces. The fresh fruit seemed to have been sitting around for awhile. Some pieces were discolored. I would not try this place again.

We liked the look of the place from the outside but once we sat down I just had a bad feeling about it. There were more staff than customers which made me wonder why but it was too late. It was our last night in NYC so we went out for a special meal unfortunately it was not special at... More

Had lunch while strolling around West 46th Street and 8th Avenue. The exterior was inviting so my wife and I went in. We had a late lunch, so we ordered only wine and salad, although there were items in the menu that looked good. The service and the atmosphere were excellent. It was a place we would go back to... We were somewhat hesitant going here given the mixed reviews but extremely glad we went. Pleasant atmosphere and excellent service, at no point did we feel rushed or pressured. The mediterranean tapas was an excellent and extremely generous portion of a various appetizers, more than enough for two people and even would be adequate for three. We had the mussels... More

Great french Bistro a block from times Square in the heart of the theater district. We have eaten here twice. Great place for a late night dinner after a Broadway show. Service is great with plenty of attention. Fantastic steak tartar and grilled squid done to perfection. Prices are reasonable for times square area. A few tables are available outside... More

I went with a group of nine and we all had wonderful entrees from the "fixed price" menu. I had a great salmon dish.

It was nice to find this place just off from the bustle of Times Square. We managed to have a quiet breakfast, which was good, not great - but it was very nice and peaceful after fighting the hordes. Would have liked to go back.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
