Convenient to Times Square

Had lunch while strolling around West 46th Street and 8th Avenue. The exterior was inviting so my wife and I went in. We had a late lunch, so we ordered only wine and salad, although there were items in the menu that looked good. The service and the atmosphere were excellent. It was a place we... read more

We were somewhat hesitant going here given the mixed reviews but extremely glad we went. Pleasant atmosphere and excellent service, at no point did we feel rushed or pressured. The mediterranean tapas was an excellent and extremely generous portion of a various appetizers, more than enough for two people and even would be adequate for three. We had the mussels... More

Great french Bistro a block from times Square in the heart of the theater district. We have eaten here twice. Great place for a late night dinner after a Broadway show. Service is great with plenty of attention. Fantastic steak tartar and grilled squid done to perfection. Prices are reasonable for times square area. A few tables are available outside... More

I went with a group of nine and we all had wonderful entrees from the "fixed price" menu. I had a great salmon dish.

It was nice to find this place just off from the bustle of Times Square. We managed to have a quiet breakfast, which was good, not great - but it was very nice and peaceful after fighting the hordes. Would have liked to go back.

My friends and I came here for breakfast for majority of the days we were in New York. The french toast is still my favourite to this day. The sausage and eggs, too, had a very distinct yet absolutely delicious flavour to them. The only downfall was the slow service. It took quite some time for us to get our... More

Being finicky about my wine choices, I was thrilled to see a Macon-Fuisse '13 from Verget on the By-the-Glass list at this unpretentious, tile-floored bistro in the Theater District. My wife and I had shrugged and settled (so we thought) for this unassuming place after striking out at two other places in the area. We were totally enchanted by, A)... More

We were going to a Broadway show at 3 pm so just wanted to find a nearby place for a quick lunch, or brunch as it turned out. This place looked rather old fashioned but otherwise acceptable, and being off 8th Ave somewhat removed from the overly noisy Times Square area. It's a medium sized restaurant, with several dining rooms,... More

I had an early diner last week at this place. The hostess was not overly friendly but ok. The waiter was very attentive, friendly and discreet. I ordered the steak tartare and it was one of the best i have ever had. The lettuce, fries were delicious as well. The apple pie despite having been warmed up was not so... More

I offer my standard disclaimer for any restaurant review I have done........I hate, Hate, HATE to travel, and I prefer a "meat and potatoes" meal that is simple. The more complext or experimental a restaurant might be, the less I am going to like it. This was the case for Brasserie Athenee, located on W. 46th and 8th Avenue in... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
