We went last for dinner and were utterly disappointed. The bobotie was awful:( and I am South African. The fish (hake fillet) was not good at all and the Moz peri peri prawns sadly were a let down too! Save your pennies and try another spot.

My family was here for a graduation celebration. My stepdad is South African, and they'd been here before and had a great experience. Not this time. Though it was very early for dinner and wasn't busy, service was slow. Our server was somewhat friendly but not overly helpful. And then she spilled much of our bottle of red wine on... More

We went to NY on our honeymoon. My husband just arrived from South Africa in October 2013 so he has been craving S.A. dishes. Honestly, the reviews online weren't great so I was hesitant to try this place. I'm glad we went! First of all the place is adorable! It looks like a farmhouse in South Africa. It was romantic... I have visited "Braai" twice. It is pricy, but the portions size smaller than French cuisine. So for a rich man, perfecto. The food is simply delicious and the atmosphere: OK. The second time I ordered take out and picked it up myself - the sausage portions were ridiculously SMALL, and the wonderful South African chips?, yummy but such again... More

When it New York, if you don't try some of the many ethnic food options, you're missing out. We walked along Hell's Kitchen and stumbled upon Braai. We decided to give it a try, and we are glad we did. I tried the African Road Runner (pan seared ostrich fillet), while others in my family tried the Balsamic Barbeque Chicken... More

One if the better meals I had while in NYC. I had the steak and veggies while my husband had the lamb. We both enjoyed our meals. The setting was not too loud, and candlelit. I would return here if I lived in NYC.

As a lover of African food, I was thrilled to try this South African restaurant in mid-town. The food was deliciously prepared, interesting and the restaurant layout itself was trendy and fun. I recommend and will return!

A charming South African restaurant in what looks like a large, renovated wine cellar near Hell's Kitchen. You'll find excellent food at a reasonable price. I had the Lamb Bunny Chow - a curry rubbed lamb stew served in a sourdough bowl. It was awesome.

We had a fabulous lunch there yesterday: pureed broccoli soup, grilled salmon with delicious fresh veggies, and Malva "pudding" (actually a yummy moist cake like a better version of gulab jamun) with gelato for only $12.50!!! Hope to return tomorrow!

I have lived in South Africa so i got really exited to have biltong in NYC. We loved the lamb ribs, the avocado lobster salad and the apricot cake desert! We also highly enjoyed the cocktails , candlelight and music .
