Welcome to the nanking restaurant to experience the hospitality of this ancient city of China ! Nanking is a city about equal distance from Canton and Peking. In 1842, after nanking was captured by the British, Sir Henry pottinger signed the nanking treaty. What followed thereafter was an era where various eating places opened up for visitors to enjoy the hospitality of this region. The food was modified to suit the palette of the visitors to entice them to come back to these eating places. This fusion cuisine became very popular. It is our humble endeavor at nanking Restaurant to bring you the same historical fusion taste, and hospitality from ancient China. We extend a very warm welcome to you and will make every effort to make your visit enjoyable and memorable.

Food was nice and reasonably priced. Good selection to choose from. Staff friendly. I went in early evening and there was a pretty good crowd there. Service could have been faster but nothing major.

I went for lunch (which was actually a good deal relative to the other options) and the moment I got the hot and sour soup I knew it was going to be lousy. it was. I'm not sure how this place stays in business - well, probably its location next to the food void/tourist trap that is times square. the... More

My daughter and I went there for lunch. Food was really, really good and we had a friendly waiter who knew the menu. If they could only replace their chipped, cracked plates, they'd get my 5 stars. Make sure you check your bill - they tried to charge me 40% more for my wine that it says on the menu... More

This location of this place is nice but the food itself is OK. I have gone to the other Nanking restaurants in NJ (South Plainfield & Atlantic City) and as compared to them, the food for this one was average at best.

Whenever I am in mid-town, I try to grab a meal here. It is one of the most reasonably priced restaurants that you will find in NYC. Service is fast and the portions are fairly large..and they are well-prepared for you to bring the extra food home...by adding utensils and spices or sauces in the bag. The place is centrally... A Chinese restaurant in mid Manhattan, sounds great! WRONG! The service was awful. The manager and the waiters were rude to us and pushy. When we ordered drinks they arrived after our food, and we only had soda so it wasn't difficult. The food was so horrible that I sent it back, for the first time in my life. The... More

If the apocalypse was imminent, you wouldn't really care about serving your customers or taking good care of them or serving them anything remotely good since ... well, you're all going to die, right? Well, that's Nanking. I ordered a red thai curry. It was yellow. I pointed this out. They took it back to the kitchen, added some chili... More

I should have read the reviews before going in. Food was very bad. There are plenty of other better choices around.

we ordered the Ginger Chicken which arrived before our drinks order. The chicken was questionably cooked, and indeed questionably actually chicken. It tasted of soap, no hints of ginger at all and I wouldn't feed it to my dog. The service was also incredibly poor and not customer oriented. I re-iterate, for your safety, do not eat here!
