From the moment you walk in you know you are going to to have an unforgettable experience. Ali, the owner treats you like family and prepares amazing dishes you won't find as authentic anywhere else in the country. We have traveled all over and still hold our experience at Kabab Cafe as one of our most memorable and enjoyable. Ali... More

This place is a gem of all gems mixed into the adventerous food of NYC! Myself and wife have travelled from Alaska twice to eat Ali's spectacular food. We are adventerous eaters and have tried all the great offal Ali has to offer for his patrons. His food combinations and spices that go with the dishes will leave your tongue... More

We ordered the mezze platter, iced hibiscus tea and turkish coffee. All were excellent. The owner, Ali, is a delight and a friendly host. We will definitely go back!

Outstanding Egyptian food in a hole in the wall in Astoria Queens.. One of the best meals I have had in NYC. Step down into half a dozen tables with wonderful garrulous owner - chef - waiter and one assistant. A trip! BYOB. Starters, home made mezze (dips, fellafel etc). Sweetbreads, gose stuffed filo in pomwgranate reduction, stuffed lamb, lamb... More

This tiny hole in the wall restaurant is an diamond in the rough. The delicate sauces and amazing tastes were prepared in the tiny kitchen area by Ali, the Egyptian chef, waiter, and story-teller. From the moment you enter this small restaurant, you are family. No menu, Ali takes your order after conferring on your likes, allergies, preferences -- then... More

What can I say.....everything about our visit was perfect. The food was delicious and full of flavour. What really made our visit was the warm welcome and wonderful hospitality from Ali. We can't wait to return to NY to revisit Kabab cafe.

A dear friend, and native New Yorker, told me this Egyptian Cafe was her favorite restaurant in NYC. Having lived in the Middle East for several years, my expectations were very high. Ali did not disappoint. From his warm greeting to his bear hug and "I love you" as we left 90 minutes later, this was a five star experience.... More

I tried out Kabab Cafe with a group of friends. To put it plainly, we had a blast. The place is tiny, but we managed to all squeeze into a corner. The decor is whimsical and homey. Chef Ali asked us what we felt like eating and made some recommendations. We began with an appetizer platter of hummous, falafel, and... More

This place is a lil' hole in the wall... but eating there is an experience. You are practically in the kitchen and you are practically shown what you are about to eat before they cook it for you. I believe this place is ideal for tasting a "cuisine" you know nothing about. The chef/owner is very friendly and will more... More
