Food is great. Sadly (maybe unsurprisingly given tourist focus) some (not all) of the staff are amazingly rude—even for New York. So come dressed in your best teflon coating, don't take anything personally and you might manage to enjoy the seafood soup.

We found a few places on TripAdvisor and headed to explore Little Italy. We came up on Davide (working Security for the restaurant) on the sidewalk. He started telling us about the place. He was insistent but not pushy or arrogant. We had a fun conversation for a few minutes. We promised him we'd head back if we did not... More

We were hungry and tromping around the city in the cold and rain. A man was outside and ushered us in. We originally declined and tried to go in a cheaper place across the street but were turned away because we were dining with a baby. We went back to the restaurant and we are so glad we did! The... This restaurant is an intimate and charming place. The pasta, bread and most of the menu's dishes are all made on site. The service was fantastic. There was a man playing an accordian which was fun and added to the already charming atmosphere. Felt very authentic. Having been to actual Italy I can say for sure that the pasta was... More

The restaurant we had originally chosen was full when we turned up and we chose da Gennaro after chatting with the guy outside. He was friendly and jovial without being pushy. We were not disappointed-the service was excellent , with staff who knew the dishes and our meal didn't feel rushed. The food was hot, fresh and very tasty. If... More

My friends and I ate here the last night of our trip to NYC and it was the best meal we had our entire trip. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly, and the food is some of the best Italian I've ever had. Be sure to try the homemade sangria! You won't be sorry... More

We had lunch in the restaurant because it was the first one we saw when visiting Little Italy NY. Fantastic food. The place was packed so the service was kind of crazy but all in all we recommend this place - from the bread to the dessert we were very pleased.
