Better with clients

The food is very good, and the prix fixe lunch is a relative bargain, since I often spend over $15 at the local "weigh your food" salad bar. But I think it is a bit too formal for a regular lunch place. I prefer the vault downstairs for old time décor.

I met some friends here during restaurant week in early March. When you can order an appetizer, a filet mignon, and end with an amazing dessert… all for under $40 in NYC, that’s a great deal. Service was a bit slow and the price for cocktails was high, even for NYC standards, but the food was all very tasty. I... More

Bobby Van's used to be much better place. On a recent visit I was taken aback by very poor service for such a high-class (presumably) restaurant. just to note a few: - waiter did not even bother to change plates after appetizer - did not offer steak knives for the steak - the steak was cold! it is shame as... If you're a tourist and want to settle into a really good meal...raw bar, steaks, chicken - after a day of sightseeing downtown Wall St, this is a good place to eat. Never had a bad meal and if you have food/allergy/salt issues, the staff will most happy to accommodate your every need. Good service, good food and they will... More

A group from work went here for lunch during Restaurant Week ($25 for appetizer, entrée & dessert). Everything was top notch from the greeting at the door till we left. Four of us each had a different main course and all were excellent. My steak sandwich was very, very good. At $25 on the regular menu it's a good deal.... More

The food here was mouth watering-ly awesome. There was a group of 6 of us, I had the filet, and it was very very tasty. We had a variety of appetizers, most were good, but the calamari was underwhelming, it was a bit soggy. Salads were fresh and tasty as well. Where this place fell short was service. The waiter... Rude bartender, rude staff, possibly due to rude management since the apple doesn't fall too far away. Do yourself a favor and walk just 2 blocks north and you'll be greeted by a more professional staff at the Capital Grille. If you must eat here, go downstairs. I remembered having a nice juicy T-bone downstairs but that was so long... More

Doing some business in the Financial District, and needed a good place to eat. What I got was a great place. The salads were outstanding. It was busy at lunch, but not crowded or noisy. The servers were attentive, but not intrusive. It was a great experience all around.

We walked in about 5.30 pm after visiting the 9/11 Memorial and asked for a table - the bar was busy but the restaurant was dead! We were told they couldn't accommodate us as they were due to be busy... I think it was more to do with the fact we walked in with our big winter coats on, scarfs,... More
