Great food, disappointing service

The food here was mouth watering-ly awesome. There was a group of 6 of us, I had the filet, and it was very very tasty. We had a variety of appetizers, most were good, but the calamari was underwhelming, it was a bit soggy. Salads were fresh and tasty as well. Where this place fell short was... read more

The food is very good, and the prix fixe lunch is a relative bargain, since I often spend over $15 at the local "weigh your food" salad bar. But I think it is a bit too formal for a regular lunch place. I prefer the vault downstairs for old time décor.

Rude bartender, rude staff, possibly due to rude management since the apple doesn't fall too far away. Do yourself a favor and walk just 2 blocks north and you'll be greeted by a more professional staff at the Capital Grille. If you must eat here, go downstairs. I remembered having a nice juicy T-bone downstairs but that was so long... More

Doing some business in the Financial District, and needed a good place to eat. What I got was a great place. The salads were outstanding. It was busy at lunch, but not crowded or noisy. The servers were attentive, but not intrusive. It was a great experience all around.

We walked in about 5.30 pm after visiting the 9/11 Memorial and asked for a table - the bar was busy but the restaurant was dead! We were told they couldn't accommodate us as they were due to be busy... I think it was more to do with the fact we walked in with our big winter coats on, scarfs,... More

We had the entire restaurant booked out, fixed menu. They did a great job of getting all the food out (180 people!) on time and apparently the steak was really good. I don't eat meat, but had hake which was well prepared. The salad for starter was a bit non- descript, as was the dessert, but I guess that's not... More

Entertained partners in their underground room which has a great history but unfortunately the decoration does not create a warm atmosphere. Pretty dark and no special lighting. Food came fast for all of us but was served without a touch of class. Just dumped the plate without any sort of ceremonial. It felt like a canteen and the food was... More

Glad I wasn't paying for this ! On a table for 6 , 2 steaks were sent back for being overdone , 2 were pretty cold . Not sure how the others felt but we all agreed that some of the big name steakhouses are just relying on the name . There was no embarrassment or real apology that the... More

Was there as a large business group - in the vault below. great atmosphere. Food good (I ordered fish at a steak restaurant?? That was sort of silly - but it was quite delish).
