Good meal

A fun neighborhood place with an fun menu and good service. The fried chicken is good and so are the burgers. Servers all have a sense of humor and the patrons all seemed to be having fun.

Great little restaurant in the East Village. We were there on a very cold night. We had a reservation and were seating immediately. The place filled up later in the evening. The fried chicken is so delicious!. The pulled pork sandwich was the special and it was delicious as well. My daughter is a redhead so it was fun to... More

Hard to say with certainty since NYC dining scene changes daily, but definitely top three. Who would have guessed that the LES in addition to being the birthplace of the Momofuku empire would also lay claim to great fried chicken? But this Southern raised transplant has tried them all and thinks the Redhead has a strong case. I prefer dark... More

We had earlier reservations and were seated right away. Nice not to have to wait at all! We started with the bacon peanuts and the pretzels with beer cheese spread - both a huge hit with everyone! The entrees ordered were the short ribs and the fried chicken - both excellent! We went home with ginger snap cookies that had... More

Just trust me. Great meal. Pretzels and brussels sprouts killed it. Oh, and the bread pudding. Just get all the food.

During our recent 4 night stay in NYC my wife had heard about this place so we decided to check it out. While we did not have a reservation, we got there at about 5:30pm and noticed it was already quite busy however, we were fortunate enough to get a table near the front door. The atmosphere was pretty laid... More

We, a party of 4 had reservation at 7 pm. They allow reservation for four or more. We were there at 7 pm and seated right away. The restaurant is small with bar near the front and dinner tables approximately for 30 or so. But it felt cozy and nice. We ordered two cocktails like : Redhead Gibson :plymouth gin,... More

Visiting daughter 2 near her work prior to a play, looked for a nice place on TripAdvisor. Nice rating (though that misguided for Tataki and Nancy Whiskey), gave it a whirl. Very nice ambiance, warm and personable service. The drinks were outstanding, a very good Manhattan and their own "Gotham," a Manhattan variant with a touch of Kahlua. The girls... More

This a cozy place on the lower east side that houses some of the tastiest treats in NYC. Highlights? The pretzels and the fried chicken are outstanding. Good beer selection (drafts and bottles) and a wide array of whiskeys. All the food was spot-on in terms of flavor and presentation. It is worth a trip from the boroughs or the... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
