LOVE THIS PLACE

Lomo Salteado is all I have to say! It is the bomb and keeps me coming back! There maduros are great. The wait to get in at times is annoying and their drinks are VERY strong.

I truly love Flor de Mayo and I've gone there many times. However, it tends to be too crowded for my taste. If you're planning to go there for dinner, I would suggest to make it an early one to avoid a long wait.

This Peruvian Chinese restaurant has some nice and tasty Peruvian food, but the Chinese dishes lack in taste and quality. The meat in my chicken chow fun was so hard and dry, I had to give up on it, but the Peruvian Half a Chicken was so yummy and juicy, it didn't even feel like food from the same restaurant.

We have been going to Flor for years back to the days when it was cuban/Chinese food. It is now Peruvian/Chinese with some of the Cuban old favorites. We went here looking for some interesting Peruvian food but other than ceviche, there was not much resembling the delicious vegetarian food we had in Peru. However, their cuban food: ropa vieja,... Recently had dinner at Flor De Mayo (the Amsterdam location) with my husband and his parents and the food was amazing!! My husband and I have been here before with my good friend and her boyfriend and we enjoyed it so much we decided to bring my in-laws for dinner. We went on a Friday night and arrived there at... I love this place. I have been coming here for 20 years now and the food is always great. One thing that I do notice on the reviews is that the Chinese portion of the menu gets mixed reviews while if you order off the Peruvian side of the menu the food is fantastic! My personal favorites. 1) Lomo Saltado.... More

When I first sat down and looked at the menu ... my expectations were set pretty low. There were over 100 options ranging from Chinese Kung Pao to Peruvian ceviche to a host of spanish dishes... Trying to do too much and clearly not excelling in all. I chose the shrimp ceviche ... And wish I hadn't. It was so... More

We were a family of 3 going to this Chino Latino restaurant on Amsterdam avenue. The youngest ordered a Lo mein, the adults ordered Peruvian chicken with fried rice. The portions were huge - one plate could easily have fed 2-3 adults. The chicken was very moist, but lacked a bit of seasoning, the fried rice, however, was lovely. The... More

We visited these co-owned restaurants fairly often and have done so for 5-7 years. There are two on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the one we strongly prefer is on Broadway between 100 & 101st Street. The other is on Amsterdam between 83-84th Streets. We just went back to the preferred one on Broadway and had an excellent... More

It may be a diamond in the rough, but the food is very good. I've been going to this restaurant for many many years. I visited NYC yesterday, and dropped by Flor de Mayo for dinner with relatives. Delicious! Generous portions and very tasty.
