Rosies Birthday!

Great location, very good interior, authentic look in the main dining area and very attentive staff. Starter of Cheese soufflé was as good as any I have had in Michelin Restaurants. Mains for the other 3 diners of mixed seafood/chicken/duck all well cooked and seasoned, however my steak tartar had... read more

Benoit is a very good restaurant on west 56th, specializing in very good French food, wish exceptinal duck and quenelles. Recently, they instituted a weekly suckling pig nights with ful course dinners for a fixed price. They are nothing short of amazing.

The restaurant feels like Paris the minute you walk in the door. For some that might not be a good thing, but if you're in love with Paris, it just really doesn't get any better unless you get on a plane. We choose to sit in the front, near a window, and service was just as good as if we... More

We needed a place for eat before a Sunday afternoon concert at Carnegie Hall. My friend had heard of this place. Peeking in the front window, I saw a piece of France in NY. We were seated for brunch without a reservation. My friend had the charcuterie plate; she couldn't stoop raving about the potato salad, the lentil salad, the... More

Reservations at this Parisian Bistro transported us to Paris. Eyeing the April special weekly meal card, we asked to have the suckling pig entree. A dish that we were one day late to order. To our surprise and delight the chef was able to accommodate. White asparagus, cheese puffs and an excellent wine, provided us a wonderful fare on our... More

I wanted to like this place, but have to say it was a little disappointing. The service was excellent, but the food was pretty poor. I got the pâté en croute, which was served too cold, and the cassoulet, which was really not to my taste and experience. The sausage had little taste, the beans were overlooked and there were... We tried this place because it was very close to our hotel and we were not disappointed. We both had the special of the month, beef bourguignon, which was outstanding. It literally melted in your mouth, as did my chocolate soufflé. Service was good and unobtrusive, but noise level was high. Highly recommended overall.

I love French bistrot-style cuisine, and this restaurant filled the bill. A beam of Parisian light in NYC. The escargot bourguinone was sheer perfection and the roasted chicken was exquisitely prepared. Great puree de pommes de terre and pommes frites. I was keen on getting the notable cassoulet that was written up in Wine Spectator. I rate it good; not... More

We happened onto Benoit after shopping on Fifth Avenue on a chilly, windy day. The warm atmosphere was inviting, and the food was delicious. The roast chicken is superb, with a half-chicken for one. The roasted garlic and pommes frites are perfect accompaniments. The country salad and lobster salad were both fresh and tasty, and the bread and the gougéres... More

I chose this French restaurant based on a positive Zagat review. The service was subpar, the food was very good, but pricey. But if you're looking for a quiet, romantic French restaurant, Next time I'd try something different. Overall, I'd say that this choice did not provide good value.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
