If you (and everyone else) want a pre-theater dinner, and you have a reservation, you could do much worse than a dinner at the bistro Benoit. You need to tolerate crowded conditions and a very high noise level, even by New York standards, but you get excellent food and a helpful staff, which, even with its high prices, makes this... More

Delightful food and superior service. Enjoyed a pre play dinner with 9 friends last weekend, highly recommended.

This delightful French bistro, the work of Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse, is a lovely place with excellent food --notice I said food, not cuisine. There's nothing pretentious or precious, just the option of a flight of creative and tasty appetizers for the table, perfectly cooked loup de mer, chatham cod topped with lots of clams in a chowder ... and... Ahhhh, i realised i missed this restaurant so much. Maybe the best French in Town? The decor is simply beautiful, you feel lime in Paris. The food is so good and service is smooth and professional. The bar at the entrance adds something special to the place!

Full of out of towners on their way to or from some Broadway show or another, nevertheless, the service is very gracious, though a little slow. The decor itself transports to any big Parisian Bistro the wine list is good and has plenty of affordable options, it's geared more towards France than the US but it's not hard to find... More

We had walked past and thought looked like a nice spot and entered not having read any reviews and we were glad we did. Delightful French meals, surrounded by French speaking diners and waiters. Started with complimentary gougeres and a glass of champagne and a lovely lunch followed. The room has lovely red colours and the bar is an inviting... More

Visited here with friends before a night at Lincoln Center. Service was attentive, for sure, but frankly I found the food to be prepared decently enough but quite bland. The best parts of the meal were the crisy toppings (fried leeks? no idea really) on top of my soup, and my friend's chocolate cake for dessert. (Even the cake, though,... More

Proving that midtown need not mean high prices, Benoit serves classic bistro dishes with experienced skill. The quenelles de brochet in sauce Nantua were a well-executed throwback and the perfect antidote to a cold February day. Service was appropriately prompt for a business lunch. In short, the old standards done to high standards.

Our Restaurant Week lunch at Benoit was wonderful from start to finish, and we highly recommend it. The attentive waitstaff started us with a plate of warm gougeres...yum. Onward and upward from there. We both started with a lightly-dressed endive salad, followed by Tolousse sausage with green lentils--one of the best dishes I've had anywhere. Dessert for me was a... We had brunch with friends on a Sunday at noon at Benoit 's as it was close to the Moma and it was a delightful experience. The decor is that of a traditional French bistrot with warm colors and well rendered interior design. The all French staff was highly professional and just impeccable: from the hostess to the maître d'hôtel... More
