Ramen to die for!

Delicious ramen, the best I've tried so far. Beautiful ambience, attentive service personnel and the food... Just wanted to keep on going back for more! Went the first time on February with my husband, then when we visit NY again on October I had to bring my friends... It was so worth it, just how... read more

After skipping out on NoodleBar, we headed over here for a late night dinner b/c the wait was (slightly) shorter. During our wait we hung out by the bar where an excellent (and speedy) bartender manned the whole room. Bonus- you can order apps to the bar, but I'd personally save the food for the table experience to prolong it... More

This was an amazing experience all around. I had searched the web for a restaurant for before the theater and found this on one of the lists. Since we were planning so late, I needed a place that didn't take reservations. We arrived at 5:07 (they open at 5) and were able to get a table by 5:50 p.m. (the... More

A taste of authentic ramen in the middle of New York (Lower east side) No Reservations (worth the wait) No takeouts (secret taste does not leave the building) Damma! means if you have more soup, you can ask for more noodles. This is the best ramen i have tasted and every ramen after is compared to this. It is that... More

We arrived after 9pm on a Tuesday night and were very lucky to get seated in under 20 minutes. The establishment was lively and loud (in a good way). Ordered both buns and ramen to try. I loved the aroma and intensity of the broth but wasn't a big fan of the noodles themselves. Texture did not taste like Japanese... More

This was one of the best bowls of Ramen I have ever had - I have been to Japan. My fiance and I loved it and actually debated on going back the next night. It is THAT good. It was a 90 minute wait on a Wednesday but well worth it. If you like Ramen, go no further.

Ate here at lunchtime on a Sunday - the door staff were great and got us a seat quickly as we were going to see a matinée in the afternoon. The staff were all excellent - quick to take our orders, friendly, and helpful. I'm giving the restaurant three stars because I think you can get better ramen elsewhere in... More

I knew about Ippudo because of my last year trip to Japan; and I still cannot forget the ramen we tried there: OUTSTANDING! In fact, we when twice to Ippudo during our stay in Kyoto and we also went to Ippudo some days later in Tokyo. The menu in the NY restaurant is very similar to the Japanese one. And... More

My daughter has been talking about this place for a while, and I was a little suspecious knowing that it could be nothing but a hype among the younger generations. I'm a noodle kind of guy, and I know what a good noodle dish should be like, although Ramen is not my favorite kind of noodles. But I must say... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
