Live 'intimate' jazz.

What a great find so close to the husstle and bustle, a really nice small bar, with a really good atmosphere. A live 3 piece jazz band playing some chilled music, great listening to with a large rum in your hand.great visit.

Very dark, small, pricey cocktails but good musicians. Had to read the menu using the torch on my mobile !

We had a drink in the Rum House. The room was very nice and clean. It's was not busy. The drinks were very expensive, not special so over priced. No we don't go there again.

Top drawer night out, great selection of rum, very well trained bar staff and most importantly cool live music.

We were enjoying the 70's tunes - Chaka Khan and Earth Wind & Fire, when all of a sudden a ragtime band formed and started to play - FUN!!! People were dancing, drinks were flowing - it was a GREAT night!! We look forward to coming back!!

Because this is a small bar in an older hotel, it tends to be crowded even when there are not many people there. As a result, although it is small, it is not intimate. The bar selection and service are definitely above-average for the Times Square area, and there is decent live jazz.

Called in here after seeing a show on Saturday, they had a good selection of rums to choose from. Though the place was busy, the service was quick and the measures were very generous. The live 3 piece band took you back to the 1940's, away from the hustle of the streets outside.

We visited the Rum House a couple of times. My wife asked for a suggestion from the bar tender on what he made well and was told "It's the Rum House, order something with rum" but not a specific suggestion as she was really looking for his "signature" drink. We also visited another night with some live jazz and the... More

I believe this place has been in the Edison Hotel forever, and I remember going there occasionally for the last 15 years or so. It was a great slice of old NY. Not so any more, it's been bought and sanitized. Surly service, high prices and once the band starts, if you want to have a conversation, fuggedaboudit. Another slice... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
