Good jazz

While staying at Hotel Edison, it is nice to go for drinks at the Rum House and listen to jazz. Very small joint, but cool atmosphere. The only disappointment was that the jazz band finished way too early.

The Rum House was a great stop for a few drinks off Times Square. A live band and some well made cocktails ensured this was a very worthwhile visit. Tables turn quite quickly so getting a seat wasn't too difficult but post theatre would probably be much harder.

Decided to give the bar attached to our hotel a go, first impressions were that it was a really cool place with a real buzz and great live music. Cocktail waitress however - worst service ever!!!! 2 tables including us had to go to the bar to get our own drinks as she was too busy fawning over one particular... More

I had no idea that this place was in Bird Man -- now I have a new respect for it! Wish I'd known that while I was there! Anyway -- we dipped into the Rum House for a quick cocktail while out on the town. Had the rum manhattan which was super tasty. The only problem is that this place... More

Very expensive, $60 dollars plus for 5 mediocre drinks, no cocktails involved. Barman couldn't be bothered to talk to us. Very small bar so it became very very noisy when full. The singer had to shout to be heard !!

We had drinks at the Rum House one night when they happened to have a terrific live jazz group called Baby Soda playing old-time jazz (think Al Jolson, etc.) that complimented this old-time bar which is part of the Hotel Edison, a charming Art Deco hotel in Mid-Town Manhattan.

Stayed at the Hotel Edison , Top class hotel by the way . But was very disappointed with the Rum house , My wife and I called in for a drink on our first day in NYC , I ordered a bottle of Bud and a small white win . The barman charged me 22 dollars which I thought was... More

for a bar attached to the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised on how nice this was, it offered the usual array of drinks with a nice upscale atmosphere. it was a nice place to drink after shopping and sight seeing all day. would recommend if you are staying at the hotel edison or not!

Great cocktails, live music , cool atmosphere. Like going back in a time machine. It helped that we stayed in the Edison hotel where the bar is situated, so we could fall into bed.

Thank Josebag

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
