Passing this restaurant after breakfast at another restaurant, and judging by the decor, I had made a note that I should try it. It was a huge disappointment. I ordered oatmeal, which was described on the menu as served with apples, cinnamon and brown sugar. It came with none of those and when I requested some cinnamon and apples, only... More

It was March, it was cold, but Central park has its own beauty and ways to display foliage or not, warm weather or not, so after a walk in few path on Central Park, my friends and I decided for an early afternoon drink at the South Gate, great Mandarin Mimosa, and Bloody Mary too.

This place became our "local" while we were in Manhattan. At the end of the day after lots of sightseeing it was the perfect place to drop in for a glass of wine. The prices were what you would expect for Central Park however the service and quality of the wine were worth the price tag. The decor is stylish... More

I had one lunch and two breakfasts here. The breakfast buffet was not worth the price; nothing any more innovative or delicious on it than the items on any hotel breakfast buffet, anywhere. The salmon I ordered for lunch was excellent, and came with a lovely leek and cauliflower gratin, but that was it ... it was sort of a... More

With fabulous bartenders and a view across 59th to Central Park, it's a quintessential NY spot for a cocktail. Great for client meetings, too. It's worth the visit just to see their wine wall.

My wife and I ate at the South Gate while staying at the JW Essex House Hotel. The service, food and ambiance were great. We overlooked the park while dining and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I ordered the scallops with cheese grits and my wife enjoyed a hamburger. The cheesecake we ordered for dessert was out of this world. By far,... More

A perfect evening with an amazing meal. There were 6 of us with multiple appetizers, entrees, and desserts and every one was with not only exquisite presentation but mouth watering taste. We all shared, thank goodness, so we were able to enjoy a morsel from each of many dishes, and none of them disappointed. I only wish I lived in... More

Popped in here while waiting for our room to be ready at the JW/Essex House. Great drinks, friendly service, table on Central Park South and the Charcuterie/Cheeses: Sublime!

My husband and I stopped at the JW Marriott's South Gate restaurant before enjoying a carriage ride in Central Park. We sat at a lounge style table with a view of the park. I had a seafood sampler and my husband had lamb chops that were out of this world. We had tried an Elder Flower martini at the Blue... More

Stayed at this hotel and decided to drop by for a night cap. Got the Flower Sour...AMAZING! its vodka, st-germain liqueur, and fresh lemon juice. I love this drink. I have been back every day this week for one of these babies. Note: This review is solely based on the cocktails and cannot speak for the food served here. DECOR:... More
