Good Food, Good Service

Stopped by for a late lunch on Saturday, around 2:00. Restaurant was pretty much empty, but it was close to our hotel and we'd just arrived in NYC and needed lunch. Husband and I split a Cobb salad which was really excellent. He had a glass of wine. The kitchen split the salad for us, unasked... read more

Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and we loved the cozy ambiance. We had the peekytoe crab cake--amazing! My husband had the macaroni au Gratin and was deliciously cheesy with real slab bacon chunks and a crispy top and I had The penne Bolognese -- the penne was perfectly cooked al dente and the beef was shredded and... My husband and I went for dinner, and it was delicious. At first, we didn't like how close together the tables were. However, because they were so close, we ended up having a nice, long conversation with the couple next to us. We would definitely return when in NYC.

We were staying at the wonderful Library hotel and since this is on the corner we decided to eat here after a day of sight seeing. We walked in and they ignored us at first. We had to ask to be seated. Once we were seated the waitress had the attitude we were wasting her time when we gave our... More

We were staying at the library hotel next door so we booked a table for 8.30 Christmas Eve,unfortunately they forgot to mention they were closing at 9.30 that evening, the service was appalling, food average and one very rushed meal, won't be going back.

Poor service, waited forever for everything. Cocktails were poor and the food was very, very ordinary.

After previous good experiences, I decided to take the family for lunch here Sunday. What a disaster! The kitchen was completely inept, not managing to get any food out. Not only ours, but all of the relatively few tables were sitting there waiting. An waiting. And waiting. After an hour, our food arrived, my wife's poached egg was hard-boiled and... More

I was at a loose end on my last night in the B.A. and we had noticed this little typical New York style bistro in passing while heading to the opera. And so as it was close to our hotel, I took a gamble and wandered in at 730 on an extremely wet Thursday night. Much to my amazement, even... More

We arrived in town late and managed to get an 8pm table on a Thursday. The restaurant was full and incredibly noisy for such a small venue - a little overwhelming, but reassuring to see somewhere so busy! Prompt service, smiley staff - quick to bring water and menus to the table. Nice menu, not to huge in range, good... More

When in New York this is the place I go for dinner. They have a great menu and a very good range of wines to sample, I think they find us Europeans strange for ordering a bottle as most customers order by the glass. It's ina great position for watching the world go by.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
