I love "Black Cat" ... Bistro Chat Noir. The food is French--but, not overpoweringly so. Very low key but elegant with a mostly local crowd. Table clothes, nice art and lighting. Great service. Indredible food. Susan is a great host.

good food, but we all had a tough time choosing. the menu options just didnt inspire. the ravioli is good and so is the steak tartar. not a fan of the beet salad diced into small bits and loaded with blue cheese. skip the cream puffs for desert; stale puffs and just not great.

This is a reliable French standby on the UES. It has a sparkle to it that always reminds me how nice it can be up there. Intent friend and we each had salads - lobster and grilled shrimp- with drinks and coffee. The chef gave us a beet juice amuse bouche with creme fraiche which was refreshing. We sat outside... More

I had lunch yesterday with family and forgot how charming this restaurant can be. It is small and intimate and quite relaxed. The food is fresh and the menu has many choices. I had the chicken salad which was made with spinach and was very good. The fresh fruit plate was really fresh fruit and a nice assortment. You could... More

We were chilling in New York last week-end and went to Bistro Chat Noir for brunch on Sunday. This was a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely return at our next visit to New York... this time for dinner.

Happened upon this cute bistro while I was walking near the Frick Collection. It has a great look and vibe. Small but cozy. The food and wine list are well chosen. The bread and French Onion soup were delicious and the dessert list decadent. Would definitely visit again.

This restaurant was suggested by our concierge as a local bistro. Local for Fifth Avenue! We were under dressed as ladies were all dressed to the nines and the men all in jackets and ties. Very unusual in the US. Despite that we had an excellent meal. The service was good and friendly and food was excellent. Nice decor and... More

We know real French cuisine, as we travel to France quite frequently, (and have family there). Suzanne (the owner), makes sure that we always have a beautiful dining experience... The servers are always attentive and informative about the menu specials and new selections. Lyric is a great bartender, and we always enjoy the lobster salad and perfect martinis! If you... More

We had Christmas Day lunch at Bistro Chat Noir. It was wonderful. Every course was beautifully presented and was everything we hoped for. Wonderful flavour and generous portions. They offered a 4 course meal which was extremely well priced. The staff were very friendly too which was a real treat as this was a Christmas away from home for us.... More
