Very nice bistro

We love French food, especially the bistro style. My wife loves escargot, onion soup and duck. The onion soup was delicious. Duck was good too. I enjoyed the pate and modules and frites. Prices are good for New York.

If you are looking for great french food in New York City, this is a wonderful place to sample it. It's a small, romantic little place on the Upper East Side with terrific service, lovely ambience and great food. Celebrated our anniversary here and had a perfectly lovely evening. The food was very well prepared and we enjoyed everything and... More

Very good service with relaxed atmosphere. Onion soup was outstanding, as was the Chat Noir Salad. Selection of fresh breads was nice. Will return again!

We dined here on Christmas Day for the Prix Fixe menu. We booked without knowledge of the area or restaurant because of the variety on the menu. I had the beets starter and my boyfriend had the tuna carpaccio. We then had Sea bass and rack of lamb. All delicious. The Sancerre wine was also superb. Up until dessert our... More

This was one of our best New Years ever. The location is small and intimate. They paid great attention to the details. The Bew Years party Cabaret theme was fun and they had entertainers who danced and sang. The food was stellar. Every plate from apps to desert were considered to be outstanding.

NYC admittedly has outstanding restaurants but the "trendy" factor can be too much after a few days. This place was recommended by our daughter who lives in Manhattan. We went with her and her roomie. The restaurant is located several steps down from the sidewalk - a setting I really like. The roomie was nearly 20 minutes late but we... More

NYC friend clued us in on this gem. Fabulous Brazini, Fois Gras, Tuna Tartar. Superb wine list. If you know food and like great service Chat Noir is the right place.

We had been there about 6 months ago where they had completely forgot to bring my main plate. However we gave it another chance today (xmas day) and the service was equally as bad. Aside from the fact that we appeared to be totally invisible to the waiters for at least 15 minutes after seating us, not even bringing menus,... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
