Best bar in the City!

My wife and I have visited NYC several times before, and each time have visited Jimmy's. With it's long narrow bar, shabby patina and cool music, this bar is something of an antithesis to the many overpriced bars in and around Times Square. This is as close to your 'local' as you'll find. With as... read more

I was staying around the corner and wanted to try a more authentic bar experience on my first visit to NY. The beers were cheap, the staff great and even on my own I didn't feel out of place. I just soaked up the atmosphere and sunk some beer!

Easily one of the best bars in Manhattan this place is defined by its sense of history, devotion to rhe sweet science, friendly and eclectic staff, diverse clientele and cheap drinks. You won't find a better place.

Was invited to visit Jimmy's with a "seasonal" friend in NYC. $4.50 Stoli and Sprites, $3 draft beers, unheard of in New York. Smallish locals bar in the heart of Manhattan, staff was great, Jimmy is a true gentleman. A little "dirt on the floor" type place with good folks all around. Boxing fans must see.

Stopped in for a beer after a long day on the conference circuit. Friendly staff, great juke box and tons of boxing posters and photos.

Best bar in New York. Cold beers, great boxing pics on every wall, not full of tourists / cameras / noise. Staff are friendly, but not in your face. Raging Bull fans will also love the fact that the final movie scene was filmed here....though how the found the space beats me, it's tiny...but perfect!

Great little bar for a cheap beer and a chance to speak to the locals, everyone gets in here from tourists to bankers. The measures were very generous!!

Visited after reading the other reviews. This is a classic sit at the bar old style booze bar. Just like New Yorkers do when they throw the dollars on the bar before leaving. Forget the $8 a beer rip offs nearby..We were on bottles of imported Heineken (not the chemical crap they brew in the UK) at $4 each. Great... More

Great for a sit down and a yap with some of the locals......no frills - just cheap beer and a great atmosphere. was only a few yards from my hotel so gave it a visit most days. some fantastic boxing memorabilia hanging on the wall. Worth a visit.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
