Jimmy is from SC and he used to be the cut man for Mohammed Ali. Enough said. Go here to drink and if Jimmy is there tell him hey.
Jimmy's has been our "home base" for several trips to NYC for the Big East Basketball Tournament. It may be the coolest dive bar on the planet. Good Beer, people who look much more interesting than me and of course Jimmy-who is a real gentleman. On one night there at 2:30 or so after multiple cold beers, we got up... More
If you like to drink in a dive (and I do), Jimmy's is for you. This is a very small (particularly narrow) bar that can get packed. The walls are graced with boxing memorabilia. One of the few places to get cheap beers in NYC. Patrons are generally friendly and this is a fun place to hang .... If you... More
Wow, just off Times Square a real old bar. This place is rather small and is well worn. Very reasonable priced beers including Captain Lawrence IPA on tap. Interesting jukebox and pleasant bartenders. I did not expect to find a place like this in this part of the city. If you are boxing fan I'm sure you would find the... More
Passed this bar for 3 days before I decided to have a look in. WOW. glad I did. A legends bar. For the boxing fan look no further. Wall yo wall of boxing history and the original ringside bell from Madison square gardens. I just planned a quick drink, 2 hours later I'm still there. Beer was good and very... More
If you're looking for a great dive bar in Manhattan, you've found it. It's hard to find bars with reasonable drink prices in NYC, let alone in the Times Square vicinity, but Jimmy's surpassed all expectations. No frills, but a great jukebox and a lot of boxing memorabilia from Jimmy's time as a corner man.
Great location to duck in after wandering around Times Square, we came for one drink and stayed for three hours, we had so much fun. The drinks are reasonable, the atmosphere is kitschy and comfortable, the staff was accommodating and friendly, the crowd was who you would expect for a neighbourhood watering hole. Planning to return on our next trip... More
We visited this bar daily in between sightseeing and shopping during the period 11-12-13 and 18-11-13. the clientele is an eclectic mix of regulars and passers by. The boxing memorabilia adorning the walls is worth a visit alone and Jimmy the owner is a true gent, we had the privilege of having our photo taken with him. space can get... More
What a fantastic bar. In an overwhelming city, a friendly corner for the tourist and the local alike. Everyone in the bar serving and otherwise were so friendly and welcoming. Was a great bar to relax and have a few drinks and also at an economical price. Should visit.
Small, intimate bar where the owner comes out and visits with the people visiting. Drinks are very reasonable and locals visit.
