I'll admit, I was sad to hear the Stock Exchange was no longer and in it's place was another sports bar atmosphere in Cbad. We have so few gourmet restaurants that it is a loss. My special occasion restaurants are dwindling. Whining aside, I visited it last week. The service is still good. I got the lucky bull burger, and... More

I'm not really reviewing the Stock Exchange. We went there expecting a steakhouse that came with good recommendations, but found it had closed and re-opened with a totally different concept--sandwiches, salads, burgers--very informal. We decided not to have our meal here, so i can't say how good the new version is--but be aware that the description in the AAA guidebook... More

The Stock Exchange in Carlsbad is now a Sports Bar (beer/wine only). No more fine dining, tablecloths or 4 star cuisine here. Now one finds metal tabletops, banquet style chairs, ketchup and mustard on the tables and 5 TV's blaring away just above the din of children screeching. I can't rate the food because I don't patronize Sports Bars and... More

We went there on a Friday night and it was closed. Don't know if it was out of business or not. We had tried to call ahead, but they didn't answer the phone and the mailbox was full. No answering machine saying they were closed for the holidays, so who knows? I wouldn't go again without getting someone on the... More

If you like over microwaved food at very inflated prices then eat here. The standards are poor even for Carlsbad. I have eaten twice and NEVER again. Tried to impress visitors to my business what a mistake that was, sent all night apologizing for poor service and even poorer food.

The Elk tenderloin was great with the chile and pecan crust. Grits were outstanding too. Then we had a chocolate cheesecake with kahlua poured on top. Good choice of red wines by the glass as well.

They have a lot of really good choices. It makes it difficult to decide. Interesting appetizers really add to the whole experience. A reservation is a very good idea since they are always busy and the restaurant is not too large. The menu was very tempting making it hard to decide!

I had the tenderloin tips which were wonderfully tender and very tasty - maybe the best I've ever had. Two sides came with my dinner. It was hard for me to find two side dishes that I really wanted. I settled for spaghetti squash and homemade potato chips. The spaghetti squash was okay. I had a couple of the chips,... More

The waitress was very unfriendly. The food was terrible, the salad was disgusting, then had the stuffed pork tenderloin and it was raw in the middle. Showed the entree to the waitress who took it back to the cook and then she threw the dessert menu on the table and said we could have a free dessert. Very disappointing as... More

My husband and I hiked to the hardest caverns in Carlsbad on a Saturday morning. when we returned we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. Treat was it! Amazing dishes and great service. The ambiance at first might throw you off, but it doesn't matter. SO good! We ate here about 5 months ago and I can still... More
