I so wanted to go 5 but can't

I was excited to read reviews about this Italian restaurant in the heart of Carlsbad and eager to try it as a substitute for dinner at a Mexican food establishment, so my wife and two of our teenage children headed over on a Friday night. The setting in an old bank is appealing and well done. The... read more

We spent the day at the Caverns and were all very hungry for a good meal. After reading TA reviews, we decided to stop at the Trinity Hotel before we left town. I am very picky when it comes to food. I want high quality and lots of flavor in a clean, well kept atmosphere. My husband and I have... More

We started off with the complimentary wine tasting and enjoyed sampling some good local wines. We followed that with the Caliente Goat Cheese appetizer--a unique and flavorful melding of flavors. Our dinner selections from the traditional menu did not disappoint. I had the halibut, and it was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent throughout our evening-- the wait staff was gracious... For breakfast, the huevos rancheros with green chili! For dinner, they have mostly pasta dishes, but try those with local flavor of green chili. Lunch or dinner, Caesar salad and calamari. They have their own wine label from their vineyard near 7 rivers north of Carlsbad, near the KOA. Try the reds!

But unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the food as we expected authentic Italian. My husband's pasta was definitely not homemade (as told to us by our server) and was overcooked. My chicken piccata was mediocre at best. The good news was that the atmosphere and service were very nice.

Had a delicious meal here. Our waitress, Donna, was very good to us. The manager came to our table to check on us. Excellent service and a wonderful meal!

I live in Seattle and Washington DC and I'm used to good food and service ( too much good food! ). The dinner we had tonight at The Trinity Restaurant was great, the service was excellent and the prices were much better than I'm used to. Plenty of food too.

The hotel is so beautifully renovated from it's 1892 First National Bank. The bar was large and beautiful and we were able to taste up to 24 different wines from the Balzano Winery. It was a fun way to get out of the heat. Monday-Saturday 3-7pm
