I went in to my favorite bakery for a gift card only transaction Sunday morning and used a credit card for the purchase. The charge system asked for a 15%, 20%, 25% gratuity for the transaction. I declined and felt guilty so made an apology...to the clerk about not tipping for the two minute transaction for a gift card. Her response was “I really don’t care to hear your excuse”. Needless to say it left me feeling why am I doing business here when other business are more than happy to sell gift cards.More

Service slow, slow, slow for 2 hot sandwiches with not enough filling. Sandwiches come with nothing. We had to check because we thought our order was lost. Bread ok with lots of flour residue. Pizza burnt in places. Staff unconcerned.

We have been coming here for years but I have never taken the time to submit a review. FABULOUS wood-fired pizzas and delicious salads and sandwiches. Such a fun atmosphere/vibe. Simply love it! I highly recommend the Village Bakery!

Previously my best pizza ever was in Inverness, Scotland. But I have had two different pizzas here and both were excellent. I am heading out of the area next week but will try to squeeze in one more.

We could not love this place more. Great outdoor seating near great little shops, exceptional food, the nicest staff - parents and kids alike love it. We can’t wait to return!

Young woman taking order at the counter was rude. Lots of staff milling around with seemingly not much to do. Asked for mgr but she/he was 'too busy' to come out. Salad was good but served on cardboard which doesn't hold up well when dressing...is applied. Baked goods are excellent but prices compare to NYC All this is sad because this place used to be a favorite for lunch and goodies. Oh, and they tend to burn the pizza crust.More

The thought of a quaint village bakery is nice, but I haven't found anything particularly noteworthy here. The food is good, but not great, and the prices are rather high. The atmosphere is nice and casual, and the staff is friendly, but the food is...non-noteworthy. We only live three miles away, and we rarely go there, because there are better options not far away.More

I don't know who the magicians are back in that kitchen but they are doing something very special. And it's not just the bread, scones, muffins, tarts . . . it's the salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. They've mastered that brick oven to maximum effect. I...could not be more grateful for the impact it on my taste buds during my two month visit. But don't go if you're in a hurry. It's small and the ordering process is deliberate. Relax. Take in the vibe. Talk to the other folks in line. It's all good.More

The baked goods are very good....but eating on the patio was an adventure. The deck boards were disgusting, filthy needing a good cleaning. We would never eat there again. There were ants, tree leaves and dirt everywhere. Two hours with a pressure washer would do...wonders. Yes, I know it is a Flat Rock must see...so go see...but take your bake goods and meals to go...More

We were very disappointed. After standing in line for 15 minutes, we waited about 5 or so but only received 2 of our meals. After approximately another 10 minutes, we inquired and were told it would be out any moment. Another 10, we were told...it was in the oven and should be minutes away. After going inside again, I was told it wasn't more than the standard 15 minutes. It was actually 30 minutes after our order. We received nothing but "if there is anything more we can do, just ask."More

This little restaurant is filled with charm and offers up some of the best soup, salad and sandwiches in town, not to mention its superb baked goods! The Avocado BLT is "the bomb", and paired up with a San Pelligrino Limonata makes the perfect summertime...lunch. I'll be back...More

The barrista with the curly hair was a cutie. The one with the black hair and tattoos that brought me my drink was saucy and mysterious.
