Darrell’s is a family-style seafood restaurant that’s been a favorite on Roanoke Island since 1960. Seafood is the definite specialty; the fried oysters are widely touted as the best anywhere, served with the traditional fixings of cole slaw, french fries and hush puppies. Locals know that Darrell’s does seafood right. Land food, children’s fare and light eaters’ dishes are also available. Darrell’s is now serving the best BBQ and BBQ Ribs fresh off an all narural wood fired smoker. Helpings are heaping and desserts are delicious, if you have room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday-Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday’s.

Back in town for one of our favorites

We have patronized this restaurant for 40+ years having lived there for 30+ years. The service has always been impeccable and the facility very clean. We stopped by and ordered their soft crab plate, one of our favorites from years past. I will say it was good, but not as good as in the past. We... read more

All the seafood was great! Don't be shy, get the Captain's Pick basket! You will wish you had gotten the soft shell crabs if someone else at your table gets them. The prices are reasonable; by comparison the prices were a relief from out restaurants in the Outer Banks. We will definitely return and pray they have their soft shell... More

We stopped at Darrell's while passing through Manteo. My wife chose it because "it looks nice." I noticed a full parking lot at a little after 1:00 PM. We were glad we stopped. The whole place had a very friendly atmosphere. Many customer seemed to know each other and were known by the staff. Our waitress, Stevie, did a fine... More

This is a well established restaurant I saw a sign that said they have been in business for more than 50 years. The food came out HOT just the way you want it. The menu is somewhat limited it's mostly seafood and they do have a take out menu that looks like it changes weekly. The service was excellent. I... More

This is a local restaurant with good fresh sea food and basic condomments. Home style cooking and atmosphere.

As you know one of the reasons you go to the beach is for some fresh seafood, but that isn't the case for Darrell's. The tea was disgusting, the food definitely wasn't worth the price for what little you get and it wasn't even good which makes it worse. Save your money and go to Pamlico Jacks.

There are three main considerations with Darrell's Restaurant; Staff; all very helpful and friendly. Price; very reasonable for what was on offer. Fare; no more than average considering this establishment came highly recommended, and also its proximity to the sea.

Average at best. The service was exceptional and we did not expect too much however, both parties having worked in fish camps far from the coast, we were let down and expecting so much more. The hushpuppies were awful, tasteless, salty, and dense. The french fries were bland. The popcorn shrimp was average at best - update your breading please.... More

I expected nicer inside from the outside view. Was very basic, kinda crammed and small. The staff was nice, the food came out quick was pretty good. Dinner menu just over priced for a diner style restaurant. They did allow my picky eater to order off the lunch menu which I thought was nice. If there's no where else open... More

Well. Another disappointing Friday night. After ordering a takeout I returned home to find the order incomplete and the salad wilted! People, please! Don't assume because it is takeout that it won't be noticed! And give people what the menu says. Don't skip items because you think it won't be noticed. I just spent $30 for two dinners, ONE WHICH...
