Description: Darrell’s is a family-style seafood restaurant that’s been a favorite on Roanoke Island since 1960. Seafood is the definite specialty; the fried oysters are widely touted as the best anywhere, served with the traditional fixings of cole slaw, french fries and hush puppies. Locals know that Darrell’s does seafood right. Land food, children’s fare and light eaters’ dishes are also available. Darrell’s is now serving the best BBQ and BBQ Ribs fresh off an all narural wood fired smoker. Helpings are heaping and desserts are delicious, if you have room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday-Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday’s.

Good basic menu with good prices. BBQ and fish tacos were excellent. Would recommend the fries and onion rings for choices of side dishes as both were very good. It was a nice place to take your family.

Scallops were to die for. Grilled pork chops were very good. LOVED the hush puppies! Loved the cole slaw. Service was very good. Prices were reasonable and I'd recommend this restaurant to others.

The atmosphere is great at Darrell's. It has a real local appeal that befriends everyone. Breakfast was excellent. My omelet filled the plate. Maybe a little easier on the onions. The grits were creamy and yummy. Way more than I could eat and a great value.

We had been here before, BBQ Dinners for take-out. It was good. This trip was late lunch . . . wife had flounder filet, I ordered whole flounder (with BONES:) and both of us enjoyed our seafood . . . the fish was good! Both of us ordered collards which were good, and the fries, very tasty. Wife has had... More

First time visitors! The food is OK. My flounder was great, but side dish (green beans and mashed potatoes) are very average. My husband ordered fried liver - it was overdone, IMO. The service was great - fast and efficient. Overall, the impression of the restaurateur is positive.

Last minute stop on our way to the N.C. Aquarium. Quite busy when we entered about 1030a.m. on a Saturday. Could tell it was a local place, mostly people dressed in work clothes. Went in and were told to seat ourselves. There were many unoccupied tables toward the back, but they had dirty dishes or bus trays on them. When... More

The first giveaway was the strong, dark iced tea probably from earlier in the week, the second was the tray of crackers and butter placed on the table and the thirds was the food quality. Maybe it is a haven for the locals but certainly not for the locals who have eaten elsewhere. Pretty tasteless food overall although the place... More

We are sorry you did not enjoy your visit to Darrell's. As far as the tea goes can promise you that all our tea is brewed fresh daily. Since we do not serve steam platters I just wanted to make sure you are reviewing the right restaurant. Thank You More
