Darrell’s is a family-style seafood restaurant that’s been a favorite on Roanoke Island since 1960. Seafood is the definite specialty; the fried oysters are widely touted as the best anywhere, served with the traditional fixings of cole slaw, french fries and hush puppies. Locals know that Darrell’s does seafood right. Land food, children’s fare and light eaters’ dishes are also available. Darrell’s is now serving the best BBQ and BBQ Ribs fresh off an all narural wood fired smoker. Helpings are heaping and desserts are delicious, if you have room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday-Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday’s.

Not up to par for a seafood restaurant near the coast. Staff kind.

Average at best. The service was exceptional and we did not expect too much however, both parties having worked in fish camps far from the coast, we were let down and expecting so much more. The hushpuppies were awful, tasteless, salty, and dense. The french fries were bland. The popcorn shrimp... read more

I expected nicer inside from the outside view. Was very basic, kinda crammed and small. The staff was nice, the food came out quick was pretty good. Dinner menu just over priced for a diner style restaurant. They did allow my picky eater to order off the lunch menu which I thought was nice. If there's no where else open... More

Well. Another disappointing Friday night. After ordering a takeout I returned home to find the order incomplete and the salad wilted! People, please! Don't assume because it is takeout that it won't be noticed! And give people what the menu says. Don't skip items because you think it won't be noticed. I just spent $30 for two dinners, ONE WHICH... Lots of locals dining here - you could tell from the interactions between the staff and the guests that these people come frequently. Regular tables, regular orders, etc. - I always feel that that's a good indicator, that people keep coming back for more. Good food, friendly service, great big marlin on the wall in one of the 2 dining... More

Off season in the Outer Banks means some limitation in dining choice. Based on a recommendation from our lodging hostess, we decided to try this family restaurant reasonably close to our B & B. A cheerful waitress was a plus. Rather aggressive pricing was a minus. My order of the daily special soup arrived barely warm, a minus. When alerted,... More

Kind of like a down home place to get some good food. Place was very busy, service was good. I had grilled shrimp, sweet potato, green beans and clam chowder. It was all good. Would go again.

The breakfast is very good at Darrell's. Excellent sausage and everything is done just perfectly. Nice quiet restaurant. I will definitely be trying it for lunch and dinner An established winner.

This restaurant is definitely a place anyone visiting on vacation NEEDS to try out. Their food is great and everyone in our party (4) was not disappointed one bit by their meals. The Tuna that they prepared for me is something I still rave about 6 months later. It was the best tuna I've had at any restaurant by far.... More

I went to Darrel's with my family in the Summer of 2014. We had been there in previous vacations, and it soon became a staple of every visit to Nags Head/Manteo. In my opinion, the food is nothing short of excellent. However, you may take my review with a grain of salt, as I'm not much of a seafood person.... More

This was a fine lunch place, recommended to us locally when the restaurant we had chosen was closed for an employee party. The food was perfectly acceptable. No atmosphere to speak of, so it would be perfect for a family with kids.
