Stopped here after a bike ride through Roanoke Island. Seemed like a cool retro burger joint. The Coke items were interesting enough. We were seated right away and our server was pleasant.. I ordered a Reuben, which came out hot and fresh but it was quite bland. The fries were cold and had been sitting around for awhile, which was... More

Passed this place on the way to the aquarium and decided to give it a try, decor well done, had to wait to be seated but was worth it. Food very good and service was top shelf.

Two years running we have stopped here for a lunch during our week-long stay in the Outer Banks. We both ordered the Blue Monday burger (mine with pickles). Got the sweet potato fries as a side instead of the onion rings or the french fries (not compatible with Atkins). What a burger--blue cheese and tasty meat! And the fries were... More

9/2/14 We did a sunset cruise in Manteo. After, we ate at Big Al's. It only added to a great day. Our service was excellent and the waitress was very mannerly and attentive. The food was great and we had a wide variety between the six of us. Loved the music, and the atmosphere.

Food and service was fine. I have visited a few times for lunch on our way back from the North Carolina Aquarium. Take a look in in the local free magazines to see if there are any coupons you can use. Because this is more of a diner, not much in the way of seafood to be found here (but... More

My husband and I were lured in by the name and building. The decor is fun and inviting, the food is very good. The shakes were excellent. It is a little pricey. Two shakes, one soda, one burger, one patty melt, a side of onion rings and two side salads $40. Tip not included.

We went to this restaurant with a large group in August of 2014. We had 15 and only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. The whole place is decorated with 50s memorabilia and Coca Cola artifacts. The music was 50s music. The milkshakes were excellent, many in our party ordered two.... More

Enticed by the shiny retro atmosphere we went for a late lunch. Service was uninspiring, place was filthy dirty and the food was mediocre for the cost. I won't be returning to Big Al's and I truly feel as if my patronage was never wanted. I won't be returning.
