A great step back in time, to Happy Days era. A soda shoppe with lots of great coke memorabilia. I had a chili burger and a real fountain cherry coke! We were all happy with our lunch and the juke box was playing our favorite songs!

The service was awful. A 45 minute wait with many open tables. The hostess kept leaving her station and hiding in the gift shop. We were told the kitchen was backed up and that was the reason for the delay but everyone had who was seated had food. It was a bad way to start the meal.

Our family has always made a trip to Big Al's every year. Our food was good, but service was awful! no refills on drinks, then our waitress tossed our bill on the table and never said a word! We then sat a little bit because we really wanted dessert but she informed us we could pay over there and disappeared.... More

We went here after visiting the aquarium. My husband loves burgers and wanted to try Big Al's. I was reluctant because burgers usually aren't great in an area that specializes in seafood. I was wrong! The burgers were great! I got the burger with the pulled pork on top. It came with sweet potato fries. They were piping hot and... More

I called ahead to make a reservation for 10. They said it was not needed and they had plenty of room to seat us when we got there. I should've used this as a key for the rest of the night and found some place else.... It seemed like a good place when we walked in. Not many people there,... More

Lots of menu choices - though not many "healthy choices". Food is generally good & server was very good. Very casual. Decor is American diner with Coca Cola themed items everywhere! Even in the gift shop.

Big Al's is an OBX landmark, so we decided to try it out. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I've had way better. The malt was over-malted, and the fries had about a pound of salt on them. As for the burgers, they smelled burned but tasted perfectly fine. The service was excellent. Our server was very sweet and handled a... More

We ate at Big Al's on the way to the Lost Colony play. My 10 year old niece wanted to sit at the counter so we grabbed seats at the counter and had dinner while watching the waitstaff prepare food and milkshakes! The atmosphere was fun, the staff was friendly and the food was yummy. Menu was typical diner/grill options... More

This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere for families, great kid's menu, and awesome food! All of the workers there were super friendly. They have a cute gift shop too.
