We were visiting the Town of Manteo and looking for something lite to eat. We found this wonderful sandwich shop hidden by some of the retail shops. The food was fresh and everyone loved what they had chosen. There was 14 in our group and everyone was pleased. It is a whole in the wall type of place with out... More

If you are on the Manteo Waterfront, head to the Hungry Pelican for a great sandwich and soup. Kids lunch was great (including a drink, cookies and applesauce), vegetables were fresh and the bread was perfect. Tried the BLT and the Tomato Basil soup, and both were very good. Have tried Poor Richards before, and this beats them hands down.

We loved the creative spins on some traditional deli sandwiches. A great view of the water made a great spot to cool down.

Great sandwiches and friendly service. Hidden up in the Waterfront Shops, it is definitely a go to place to grab a sandwich or salad.

We were so pleased with the price of the food and the quality of the food we just can't say enough about it. It was a cafe - not fancy, but who needs fancy when the food is so good! All the food there is prepared fresh and served with a smile. Would definitely eat there again.

The subs were great and we insisted on going back a second time before leaving to go home. Cannot wait to go back next year!

My daughter and I had two great sandwiches in this deli. It was the best French Dip I've had in a long time, with perfect crusty bread. We loved our visit.

There are two main things you look for when you go to a restaurant or cafe - good food and good service, and the Hungry Pelican has both in abundance. Service was exemplary and when the gentleman brought our sandwiches he said he would let us know when the fresh coffee was ready. He actually brought us our coffees and,... More

We enjoyed a peaceful lunch with a view in Manteo. I had a pastrami special and my husband had the Reuban. The Reuban was my favorite. The service was nice and the sandwiches were made to order.
