August 24, 2014 - We've come to the Cape for the last 18 years. We always come to Van Rensselaer's for the Breakfast Buffet, never minding the long wait for a table. The Buffet is no longer available, that was disappointing enough. But we waited outside for 25 minutes for a table, to find the restaurant was not full. We... More

This restaurant is locally owned and they have had a great reputation for a long time. I have eaten there when we are on the Cape for the summer but neglected to write a review since everyone we know on the Cape knows about this great place so I thought they did not need my help. However, after eating there... More

Seems like a popular spot for locals as the staff knew a lot of the customers. We did go there twice so it was our place of choice to eat breakfast. While the cappucino's and mocha's I believe are machine made they are actually pretty good compared to what you can normally get in the North East so this alone... More

We were with a party of 8, including a two-year-old. The staff was quite attentive, and the food was delicious. I had the broiled scallops, and they were delicately cooked and seasoned, and served with a fresh vegetable medley.

Van Rensselaer's never fails to provide a wonderful meal. The early bird special includes selections from the regular menu but includes a cup of chowder or a trip to the well-stocked, fresh salad bar. The smaller portion of the entree paired with the salad bar is more than adequate. Everyone in our party was very happy with their selections: the... More

Van Rensselaer's is on Rt. 6, just north of North Eastham, and we had passed by many times during our annual vacations in Eastham. We never tried it because we usually cook at home, and when we do eat out, it is usually lunch at one of the great clam shacks (Friendly Fisherman, PJs, Arnolds, Cooke's, Mac's on the Pier.... More

This is the most over-rated restaurant in Wellfleet. The food is mediocre, at best, and the service is rushed, frenetic, and unfriendly. The owner is only interested in quick turnover and money, money, money. The owner recently complained and lambasted the police for closing Route 6 following an accident. He complained about losing most of his reservations and profit for... More

Found this very nice resraurant hidden among the numerous clam shacks on Route 6 on the outer Cape. Excellent (and varied) menu, great servine, good ambiance, nice and reasonable wine list and mostly excellent food. Needless to say superior oysters. A great fresh salad bar was a special treat.

One of the best around. Salad bar is top notch. Seafood is even better. Been there many times over the years and I don't think I have had the same thing twice. Peter (owner) treats everyone well when he greets you personally upon entering. Even remembers us by name. A must 'Go To' for all ages.
