The pizza is there signature entree, they use the freshest ingredients. We love the Ray's special loaded with all veggie but I'm talking gourmet. My husband loves the Lasagna it is out of this world. This eatery will become one of your favorites. Oh did I mentioned how cozy and romantic it is.

We live in Toronto and visit Southern California quite often. Everytime we are in San Diego we have a pie from Expresso (usually take out) and we are never disappointed. A bit costly but excellent food and great service.

It's small. It's not fancy. The decor is plain. ...but if you are looking for good food, friendly service, and a place that seems to have it's share of locals then this is it. Everytime we have enjoyed the pizza. Ask for Ray's special which is a vegetarian mix including artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes and jalpenos. The pasta is really... More

A wonderful dinning experience. I have enjoy this family owned restaurant often. The chicken etna is very good and the new Limoncello Teremisu dessert is to die for! I would reccomend this restaurant to any visitor or local.

There is no way this restaurant is #1 in San Diego. It is a mediocre neighborhood italian restaurant with not very good food, nor decor. We went there based on previous reviews, and were very disappointed!

My husband and I felt this was the best Italian food we've had. The tiramisu was delicious. He ordered the special and I had the Shrimp Fra Diabola. Both were delicious. The service was very good as well. Friendly, not pretentious. The atmosphere was cozy comfortable, not stiff. The live music on Friday night is a treat. This is a... More

This is a nice, small, neighborhood Italian place. It looks to be family run, and they do a great job. You really get the feeling of being a "local" while enjoying the food. I had one of the best antipasto salads I've had in a long time, and the pizza was good too. This is not a white linen, high-dollar... More

I live in Calabasas, CA and whenever I'm in San Diego I stop at Expresso. I've been going there for over 15 years! Expresso has the best pizza I have ever had! The only problem is that they don't deliver to Calabasas! : (

My wife and I were in San Diego on a quasi business trip. While I was in business meetings all day, my wife got a locals take on the best Italian restaurant in San Diego, and the answer was Espresso Pizza. Absolutely the best place we dined the whole time we were in town. I would highly recommend it to... More
