Chef's Tasting Menu Maybe Wasn't the Right Choice

Food was very good - but expected more for the price of the chef's menu. Asked for nigiri & tempura to be included, but got no tempura and more sashimi than nigiri, so we left quite hungry considering the bill. Maybe would try another Japanese place first before returning.

This Nobu restaurant is well located on the first floor of the Hard Rock Hotel, just opposite the Convention Center. I was looking forward to eating there but my experience fell short of expectation. Unlike the upscale, serene and relaxing ambiance of Nobu, New York City, its San Diego incarnation is starkly decorated and loud. I sat at the bar... More

Nobu continues to excel--food quality, presentation, and service were all top notch. Nobu's sushi is of course some of the best in the US. The grilled tenderloin was probably one of the best I've had anywhere. If you're looking to splurge, spend a fantastic evening at Nobu San Diego.

The food here was amazing, well worth the visit! I promise! I sat at the sushi bar and spent much of my visit chatting to the sushi chef on the other side of the bar. Great experience.

Went during happy hour. Sashimi spoon sampler Salmon Tataki *Absolute must! Salt & Pepper Squid Miso Cod butter lettuce cups (x2) *absolute must! 2 glasses of happy hour white wine torrontes. I don't remember exactly how much, but I think including tip it was $70. Worth it. It was excellent! Go during happy hour, you wont miss out on anything... More

As our hotel had reserved a table for us... once it was time to have dinner there was no table reserved for us at all. So we left beautiful coronado island to get to Nobu on time and no table... It was very cramped and hardly enough space between your table and the others. Which makes it very loud when... More

What can I say other than they serve the best sushi. Lots of other non fish items on menu. Had the California jalapeño appetizer very tasty indeed. The place is always busy so make sure you make a reservation. Will always return.

We enjoyed everything we ordered. Yellowtail Sashimi with jalapeno, scallop tempura, salt'd squids and black cod miso tasted perfect. Beef kushiyaki skewers was a good choice for our 9 year old daughter. We usually prefer not to order dessert in a japanese restaurant, this time Banana Soy tobanyaki was a simple but a nice choice. Listen to what your waiter... More

We loved everything we ordered. Our waiter was very attentive. The location was right in the middle of Gaslamp. The prices were quite high, but that was not unexpected. The place was quite noisy, I think they could fine a way to reduce the noise level. All in all, it was a very good dinner.

We came here on a Friday night and it was packed but we somehow got a spot at the sushi bar without having to wait. The sushi was so fresh and our sushi chef was really efficient for how busy it was. We didn't even wait long for our next item and between our server and sushi chef the service... More
