Excellent variety of tacos and burritos

very good Mexican restaurant! Incredible variety of tacos and burritos, including fish tacos and all kind of sea food burritos, besides the famous beef and chicken ones... I tried the wasabi burrito and it was delicious! The price is really good as well!

Visited recently while visiting my son who lives nearby. Agree with other reviewers who described it as "a whole in the wall" with little ambience and no table service. You order from a blackboard and then pick-up your food when called. Food was good and genuine Mexican at a good price. Clearly popular with locals, who line up and generally... More

Maybe because of the Adams street fair the food was just okay. Service was good but food lacked flavor The chili rellano was just okay and the enchilada not so good. Shrimp appetizer tasted like frozen fast food, no shrimp taste at all. The dipping sauce was good though. Service was good. My phone said secure WiFi was available, but... More

I was taken here for lunch by family members, and a few hours later I went back with other family members. Decor (Mexican) very colorful, service exceptional, food great. Out of the way, so that you have to search.

Really enjoyed my meal here and my daughter who does not like Mexican loved it!!We went to the one on Adams Ave because it was closer and much more of a sit-down inside restaurant. Parking was an issue but I loved the restaurant itself, waitress was helpful and knowledgeable and food was delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit!!

As with many of my favourite restaurants around the world, this one is little more than a hole in the wall. The extensive menu is written on a blackboard, and you better be quick in picking something that appeals because there always seems to be a line-up behind you. Great, tasty food in more than generous servings.

The food at El Zarape is AMAZING. Truly delicious and if you are in the area I highly suggest giving them a try. The only reason this did not get "excellent" is because of the help we received and the atmosphere. Overall very grungy, and the staff was less than helpful. Go for the food.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend for a light afternoon snack. Was not disappointed. It is in the University Heights area where there are a number of eating establishments. It is a hole in the wall with a small dining area (lines form all the time). Menu is on blackboard with a large variety of things (too many... More

This ironically turned out to be one of our best meals in San Diego, the menu is vast and to someone like ourselves that do not know Mexican food very well, it was a bit hard to choose but what we went for in the end it was very tasty. I would highly recommend trying this place, there is nothing... More

We actually went to the larger restaurant on Adams Street, which isn't that far from the one in University Heights. Parking is just as much a nightmare. But once you get inside the food is worth it. I had a blueberry mojito on happy hour while the wife had a beer. There were actual blueberries in my drink and it... More
