Very colorful place right across from the beach. My favorite dish was the guacamole but didn't like having to ask for it three times. I also ordered the Nachitos which unfortunately never arrived even after asking twice. It wasn't busy here yet because we were one of two customers dining when we ordered. There seems to be a breakdown of... More

This is a very comfortable place with excellent service, very good Mexican fare and a great bar. The menu includes all of your favorites done in a traditional style. This is not a gourmet restaurant with new treatments but if you want enchiladas, chimis, fajitas and the like, this is your place. It does get busy so try to arrive... More

This restaurant has really good Mexican cuisine. It is always packed, because the food is so good, and the staff is very friendly. I love the decor of the place, and the cantina feel. The bar is equipped with every kind of beverage you would want. There is outdoor and indoor seating. I recommend this place. BEST MEXICAN CUISINE OUTSIDE... More

Been to this local establishment several times, really nothing to write home about. The welcome mat needs to be repaired. We asked to be seated in a more quiet area of the restaurant and after persisting, we were seated in an area that suited us but we were treated as though we infringed upon their task oriented way of customer... Always packed, food is never bad. Mexican places in San Diego can be surprisingly bland and gringo, this isn't one of them.

As a former San Diego resident I ate at many Mexican style restaurants and hands-down Ponce's has the best tasting food, but it's something about the ambiance that kept me going back... It's like you're really in a far-away Mexican village on vacation as a expatriate hiding out; the colors and décor are authentic. Can be crowed some evenings, but... More

It's a great little Mexican place with nice wait staff and delicious food. The place gets a little crowded on weekend nights because they have such an awesome happy hour, I think. Worth a visit if you like to chill with friends over margs

Been coming here since I was a little kid. I remember the old counters and everything. This place is just so consistent...the flavor is always perfect. I usually get ground beef burrito and a quesadilla with a side of beans. Sometimes I get the enchiladas trio. Chips and salsa with a cold beer.

It's hard to get authentic Mexican food, in a casual restaurant setting, with well executed flavor combinations, outstanding service, and at a reasonable price- yet Ponce's somehow pulls it all off. Went there for the first time and was super impressed. The homemade salsas that come with the complimentary chips are perfect for everyone because they aren't too spicy. They... More
