We choose Fred's on the Sunday during the Cinco de Mayo fiesta this past May 4. I'm not sure why we choose it but so glad we did. The fish tacos were great. The burrito was great. The beer was cold and the margarita just right. We'd come back if ever in San Diego again....thanks

While living in Sandy Eggo for 18mths in 01/02 and 04, my friends and i used Fred's as our meeting place for pre-drinks and food before a night out in the Gaslamp, the food is great but the drinks are what bring you here. They have a wide selection of tequilas and margeritas, and you can take the Tequila challenge... More

Went there based on a recommendation from a friend who used to live in San Diego. Its located in Old Town and there are a multitude of Mexican restaurants to choose from! I'm glad we listened. The carnita enchiladas were amazing as was the Margarita! YUM!!

Went to Fred's on Garnet because we were too tired to search out other options. The décor was cute and the service excellent. Loved the chips and salsa bar, the happy hour margaritas, the fish tacos and the guacamole (these chips were hot and seasoned and appeared to have been fried). For our sides - not sure what type of... More

Service was very Friendly and Welcoming. I thought that the food was good. I wish Mexican restaurants had more variety as sides other than Black Beans and Mexican Rice. Overall great restaurant for the entire family in the Gas Lamp!

I love a good margarita, the Diva Rita has won my heart in best beverages! The food is delicious! The atmosphere is old style Mexican heritage, with added sports channel on the big screen TVs, great music, and lots of laughter at each table... This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant!

We always have to have a visit to Fred's Mexican whenever we come to San Diego. We usually go to the one in Old Town but this one in Pacific Beach was on our way home from a golf outing. I don't like the atmosphere as much as the one in Old Town but it's fine. They now have a... More

My husband and I visited here in August 2013. We both enjoyed the food and couldn't fault it. The prices were very reasonable and the restaurant had an excellent atmosphere. The only thing stopping us giving it 5 stars was the service. We spent 3 weeks travelling to 6 different cities across the US eating out for lunch and dinner... More

I was really disappointed in the food quality of Fred's Mexican Cafe. Now it was not so bad that we could not eat it but really it just was not what I would have expected when there are so many decent Mexican restaurants in the area. Our nachos was not up to scratch, barely any meat, slapped together and just... More

We were in Old Town on a Saturday afternoon, it was very busy everywhere. We stopped at Fred's mainly because there wasn't a huge line. The staff was friendly and the food was very good and was prepared to our specifications and we didn't have to wait. I would go again, if in the area.
