Great Patio, Good Food and Good Service

Had a nice lunch with a co-worker at La Piñata restaurant. The right-sized patio was probably the most notable part of the lunch, but my co-worker commented several days later how good his Albondigas soup was, and my burrito wasn't too shabby either. The service was quick, attentive, friendly, and... read more

The right-sized patio was probably the most notable part of the lunch, but my co-worker commented several days later how good his Albondigas soup was, and my burrito wasn't too shabby either. The service was quick, attentive, friendly, and the prices were reasonable as well. Highly recommended.

We had beef and chicken fajitas, chili relleno, beef enchiladas. Everyone liked their food. Salsa was spicy, a nice change from the usually bland California style salsa we seem to get in most places. Dinner plates run about $12-17, avg.

We went to Old Town San Diego, but did not know where to eat. We saw a few restaurants with long waits. So we decided to eat at La Piñata (very casual) and pleasantly surprised. We were in two so we only waited about 10 minutes. Food good, nice and warm inside on a cold night. Lots of large parties... More

This is a restaurant with a nice patio, excellent service and (very important) good parking. Well, the food was also very good and at a faire price. We had quesadillas and a fish taco; both were very good and pair fine with a House Margarita and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

The Albondigas soup was the start of one of the best lunches we have had anywhere. Prices were reasonable. $75 before tip for four, including Margaritas for three. We split two large bowls of soup. Four lunchtime entree specials of Releno, Beef Enchiladas, two Chicken Fajitas, each order with rice and beans. Portions were ample. We took almost half home.... More

We arrived in Old Town in the late afternoon and dined at La Pinata Mexican Restaurant. The service was quick, portions large (too large for travelers who can't take it home for leftovers). Our Margarita's were disappointing, the tequila was "tangy". Which isn't our preference, since we order "top shelf" not "well" tequila. Bluntly put, they tried to pass off... More

Small, casual, lively place with good food and fun music. There is outdoor dining and indoor dining. The wait staff is friendly. This restaurant feels authentic with it's bright colors, hanging Piñatas, bright tables and chairs right in old town. They provide chips and 'hot' salsa at each table. They have many sizes of margaritas, from small to huge. My... More

at noon --offered patio (very inviting and spotless) or inside --we chose inside. Older Lady dressed in Mexican colorful skirt and blouse immediately gave us menus followed by chips and salsa. we ordered 3egg omelet enchilada platters --served with excellent rice and refried beans covered with a blanket of melted tasty cheese. Mugs of coffee were all we needed to... More

We ended up at this restaurant on a fluke, but nonetheless really enjoyed it. It's just outside Old Town Sac - across the street to be exact. Make sure you sit outside as they have a lovely courtyard. It's not too big, but very festive with lots of plants, colored lights and colorful banners. They have a strolling guitar player... More
