Located in a strip mall in the heart of Scripps Ranch, La Bastide was a welcomed surprise on a surprisingly rainy day. A nice porch for outdoor dining, indoors is a sophisticated French restaurant. A basket of warm bread and generous glasses of iced water with lemons slices appeared immediately. We were in time for the Happy Hour, during which... More

My wife and I were visiting friends in the Scripps Ranch neighborhood of San Diego. La Bastide was practically at the end of their street in a strip mall with Von's as the anchor store. Not very encouraging. Much to our surprise and delight, the meal was as good as any meal we ever had in France. The onion soup... More

Was talked into the coq a vin and it basically tasted as if they cooked the chicken and poured a heavy sauce on top. Had neither the texture or deep coloring of a true coq a vin. Wine was good, service was good, food was very average. Probably will not be back.

Two Friends and my wife and I went to La Bastide Bistro restaurant tonight on Scripps ranch road, in a shopping center next to a Vons Supermarket. You know you don't always need to go to a super expensive and Fancy restaurant to get a Fantastic meal. It was the beginning of restaurants week and we had meals like Bibb... More

I was looking for something a little different for lunch and I found this place. The atmosphere is cute - despite its location in a strip mall, the restaurant has a nice, cozy feel to it. I was served promptly - perhaps because it was a weekday at lunch hour. There weren't many people there. I had read reviews of... More

we live in Scripps Ranch, but haven't been here for a few years. It is tucked in a strip mall in what's known as the "old VONS" shopping center...it sounds awful, but don't let that scare you. The restaurant has very nice decor/atmosphere and they have hidden the patio dining behind shrubs and planters. We haven't gone here in awhile... More

Birthday dinner for best friend - excellent food and wine. The halibut is apparently a favorite as my daughter got the last one for the evening - and it was only 6 PM. Everyone sitting outside with us tried to order the halibut. My daughter said it was the best halibut she's ever had. The brie was light and perfectly... More

My wife and I had a fantastic meal at La Bastide. This Is one of my favorites in San Diego. The appetizer menu has about 20 selections. I could of had any one of them, they looked so good.. Ended up having the mussels. They were great, not fishy or gritty at all. For the entree, i had the steak... More
