Great place for families. If you kids are hungry for a pizza, meatballs, or basic pasta al dente, this is the place to go. You could order your pizza and eat it in Balboa park. Their garlic bread is not bad at all. Service is adequate. I only wished I could have brought my own bottle of wine because the... More

Since we were hungry we decided to go for dinner at Sanfilippo's, We should never go in because they were only a few customers and should give us a sign that it wasn't going to be good. We decided to eat at the patio, the chairs were dusty, the waitress came and clean the chairs for us. She brought water... More

We went here after trying to eat at Cucina Urbana (which was loud and crowded and not very family-oriented as they stated). It was quiet, had indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good and service was great. They had a children's menu and all portions were good sized.

Nice, Home town, Italian meal where you can get your bang for your bucks. ;) Large portions for an inexpensive price. We ordered the spaghetti and meat balls w/garlic bread and a glass a wine, delicious. The service was very friendly and personable. I recommend this place.

Contrary to other reviews I saw here, our service was actually good but the food was not. I was expecting a nice little italian restaurant with old family recipes especially since this restaurant has been here for a very long time. However, that wasn't the case. First, the dinner salad I had was made with iceberg lettuce from a bin.... More

Very good every day Italian. There casseroles( eggplant parm) etc. are excellent. The best thing is the pizza. I've had pizza all over San Diego and if you like traditional Italian pizza, this is the places to go.

There are times when good Italian food without claims to luxury, extravagance, and attitude fits the bill; when checkered tablecloths, affordable beer and wine, and good conversation fulfill every need for dinner. Sanfilippo's is exactly this. I had a simple ravioli dish that was excellent. The marinara meat sauce was flavorful and the pasta was fresh. My wife had the... More

I have been a regular at Sanfilippo's for the 33 years that I have lived in Hillcrest. I knew Tommy and his wife who were the original owners until their last days. The restaurant did change hands as well as location. However, it gives me pleasure to continue to rate the quality of food very highly for this style of... More

Have been enjoying Pizza here, before and after changes/move, for 35 years. Still my favorite pizza in town. They also have great antipasto and casseroles. Ok, so not quite the same charm as the previous location, but they did a good job finding a place so close and convenient. If you like thick pizza, with excellent meat toppings, this is... More

For a relaxing casual cafe with nice patio dining that is close to Balboa Park, stop by Sanfilippo's! Enjoy great pizza, toasted baked casseroles and garlic cheese bread. I had the baked eggplant - yummy. It hit the spot after an afternoon walking at the park and visiting museums. Families are welcome. Buon appetito!
