We stop at Rama once or twice a year for special occasion. This time a family member was in town. We ordered our usual Choo Chee steamed Red Snapper. If we could order this double order we would. We tried the scallops and the pad thai which were ok but not great. I do have a soft spot for their... More

During our recent trip to San Diego, myself and my wife chose to eat at Rama’s after seeing the appetizing menu the previous day. At the time when we first passed the restaurant it appeared busy but relaxed so we thought that we would try it as our last meal in San Diego on the Friday night ahead of our... More

I had spent time in Thailand many years ago and really enjoyed good Thai food. When I came across this restaurant the reviews were pretty good so we decided to go. It is one of those cubby hole restaurants in the Gas Lamp district of San Diego close to Harbor Drive. The surroundings are average but the food and service... More

Found a pretty good Thai place in the Gaslamp area. The food had good flavor and spice, they were generous with the portions and meats, and the service was great. Just a short walk from our hotel which was a bonus!

I stopped at this restaurant for lunch on a whim. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service is speedy and courteous. I was not sure if it would be a hit. I spent time in Thailand and have high expectations. I ordered the lunch special for ten dollars. I got the drunken noodles with beef and the Tom Kha... More

This restraint any has nice sidewalk tables. They are at a slightly elevated level for more privacy. There are a couple of Thai beers and a few Southern California ones too. The crispy shrimp appetizer was good but bland. The lobster with veggies was spicy and very strong of basil flavor. The dish is good but the flavor covered the... More

The food is delicious. The chef works with special diet needs and has a great attitude. Of special note - the fresh spring rolls, drunken noodles, eggplant and any of the curries. You can sit in the front of the restaurant to people watch the street scene, or opt for the back room with a waterfall and a more intimate... More

I was very pleased with the food and atmosphere. The food was fantastic, the waiter friendly and knowledgeable, and the portions were generous.

My husband and I like Thai - tonight, we tried Rama in the Gaslamp for dinner. The restaurant is open and airy, and as a patron, I felt a little like we weren't in the US...particularly while waiting for a menu. And waiting. And waiting. When we finally received a menu, we had plenty of time to review it. Once... More

This is my go to spot when I get to break free from the confines of suburbia and head downtown. The ambience is enchanting, the service is top notch, and the food and drinks are too. Wonderful for a date night or special occasion and be sure to sit in the dining room, it's a true dining experience.
