A Little Gem

This afternoon my wife and I were with a large group, close to 30, for lunch at Soltan Banoo We were - I believe every one of us - delighted with the experience. The food had the taste of Iran, the portions generous, service friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was homey and charming. This... read more

We used to live within walking distance to this neighborhood restaurant but moved about 10 years ago. We still eat here when we can on visits to San Diego and did last week. The owner remembered us from years ago since we had been frequent customers. The food is always flavorful, fresh and a great mix of subtle Middle Eastern... More

I've visited many times, the quality has not changed. The water had a slice of cucumber, the appetizers we chose were a variety. The grape leaves were amazing. They have an amazing yogurt spiced dip with a cucumber salad. My spicy chicken was fresh served with basmati rice. A wonderful tasty experience. I was delighted to see a vegetarian menu.... More

Too many menu items to choose from and that is not always a bad thing. I tried the combination plate which included hummus, tabouli, four dolmehs, a small green salad topped with feta and olives, served with pita bread. The tabouli was laced with finely sliced lettuce which gave the dish an interesting texture. The vegetarian dolmehs were good but... More

My husband and I are just returning to the San Diego area after 10 years in the LA county area. City Heights is a familiar haunt and we are loving trying the new restaurants ~ so in passing Soltan Banoo - housed in a small house - we had to stop in for lunch. The decor is lovely and our... More

THE worst persian food I have ever had. The chicken kabab were not properly seasoned . There were charcoal spots on the chicken . Even the rice was not properly prepared !! The food comes with green salad . It would have been nice to have some dressing on the salad . If you are looking for persian food, simply... More

Soltan Banoo is worth going to just for the ambiance. It is located in an old house and has both indoor and patio seating. The decor has a middle eastern vibe to it. At night there are small lights on that give the restaurant a lovely aura. They advertise the food as "eclectic Persian cuisine." I think that means it's... More

My family and I dined at Soltan Banoo while on a trip to San Diego. We love ethnic food and were staying in a neighborhood close to this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We were glad we did. The restaurant had a relaxing, casual ambiance. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. And, most importantly, the food... More

Yesterday, a friend of mine had me meet her at Soltan Banoo. The neighborhood is chock-full of old bars and hip restaurants. I had just returned from a trip to the Middle East, so I was not as enthusiastic about her choice, as I might be. Yet, the food and the staff changed my mind immediately. This place is authentic,...
