Great Italian in Little Italy

the best Italian i've had in San Diego. I go here most every time i'm in town. Nice restaurant for taking clients and a nice outdoor patio to enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather. The veal ossobucco is amazing.

Nothing over the top. Shared Polento with mushroom gravy. Not bad. Soft well cooked. tasty but nothing fantastic. Bread unimpressive but red dipping sauce good. Service attentive. Bought main course when still on appetizer. Hate that! Oh well appetizer wasn't that good anyway. Had bolognase and again which was just ok. Pasta cooked perfectly al dente. Wasn't given an option... We took a valued Italian friend and colleague to this restaurant based on its reputation. It did not live up to its press. The restaurant is small and somewhat dated. Service is friendly and a tad familiar. We ordered a burrata and arugula salad that was good, polenta that was astonishingly delicious, and a seafood pasta, which was nice but... More

Walked down from Ballast Point to have a nice Italian dinner. Sat us at a table inside but the sun was making incredible glare in my face. We asked if they would lower the shade but they said they couldn't? We asked for another table & were told it would be a while. We were going to wait but then... More

We had a very enjoyable meal at Buon Appetito. I highly recommend it when in Little Italy. The atmosphere is upscale without an enormous tab. I do suggest the veal ravioli as it was unique and tasty. The bread and dipping sauce are also not to be missed.

Wife and I referred here by B&B owner who said this was one of his favorite Italian spots in town - not for us! I had some kind of special black ink squid Linguini which came with 3-4 small chunks of bland white fish, 3 small scallops, 2 small shrimp and a few quarter sized clams in a light red... More

Our family went to Italy 3 years ago and remember how delicious the food was. Since we've been back in the US we had been able to find a restaurant that captured that same flavor and freshness we received in Italy until now. Buon Appetito was delicious!! I ordered the chicken & eggplant parmesan combo and wasn't disappointed. I could... More

The restaurant was very clean, the ladies room was as well. the little I saw of the kitchen was very clean and orderly. I was very impressed. My husband was in the restaurant business for a very long time, and I pay attention to these things.

My husband and I ate at Buon Appetito during a long weekend stay in Little Italy. I wish I could rate the restaurant 3 1/2 stars because my husband's meal was great. However my meal was not well executed. We started with the antipasto appetizer. It was excellent with a variety of meats including prosciutto and salami. There was additional... More
