The last two times we have ventured into Hodad's we were SO disappointed. The place is so filthy, I cant even imagine what the kitchen looks like :( We used to be huge fans of this place but since Mike got on DDD his business has gone down the toilet, which I might add if you sit in back is... I wanted to eat here because of the glowing recommendation on Food Network's Diners Drive-ins and Dives program -- listed as one of the 10 best hamburger joints in the country. I love a good burger so why not? The burger was not bad, but not great -- less than I anticipated. My biggest disappointment was crumbled bacon on the... More

There is usually a line, but it goes quick and it's worth it. Fries and Rings are sharing size so don't over order. Be ready to get cozy with other diners because the place is small.

We were leaving San Diego after Christmas and wanted to try something local. Had seen this restaurant on Food Network DDD and it looked fun and got great reviews. Half our party stood in line while the other half drove around for a parking space. Then, after waiting for 15 minutes or so, we decided to get our burgers to... More

My husband and I tried to eat here for 3 days but we could never find any place remotely close to park and the line was around the block. On our last day there we decided to skip breakfast and get there 30 minutes prior to opening. We were the first people there and soon enough the line started forming.... More

My husband and I came straight here from the airport, and we, 1:30 and ready to go. We were dismayed to see a line of about 20 people. However, we rapidly learned that we could order to go and take it to the beach to eat it. This we did. Being from Portland, OR, the weather was quite mild to... More

The burgers were good but the fries weren't and the onion rings and shakes were average. We made the mistake of ordering our food to go cuz the eat in line was ridiculous. By the time we made our short walk to the beach it was all soggy. Not their fault. There were tons of veggies on the burger which... More

This is one of Guy Fieri's DDD stops, so we thought we'd give it a try. Got there not long after they opened for lunch, so we didn't have to wait, but later the line is ridiculous. We thought our meal was OK, but not outstanding. I had the Guido Burger (Guy's choice) which is basically a burger with pastrami... More

An eclectic staff and decor hide a darn good burger. Get the SMALL order of onion rings (it's enough for two) and a chocolate milk shake with half a scoop of ice cream hanging on the side of the metal tumbler. Doesn't get better than this and wear sunglasses to block the view of the area.
