I live in San Francisco and we have wonderful seafood, but Oceanaire Restaurant in the Gas Lamp district of San Diego, California is the best I have ever eaten. The service is outstanding and the food excellent. more

Was taken to Oceanaire for a fun business dinner...and we ordered A LOT amongst our party. Cocktails were very well-made, the blue one on their menu, whatever its called, was SO yummy. [One of us accidentally spilled their drink all over their own lap, and the manager came over to make sure all was well and to ensure the cocktail... more

The Oceanaire restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel. We were very pleased with our meal. There is a variety of sea food, prepared in creative ways. The entrees don't come with sides (vegetable or starch), but if you order them separately, its enough to feed two or three. The atmosphere was trendy, and attractive. Excellent... more

My husband and celebrated our anniversary at The Oceanaire last week. Before we arrived they wrote Happy Anniversary on our menu which was such a nice surprise. The service alone is reason enough for me to return. The Oceanaire staff bent over backwards to make sure our special night was unforgettable. Not to mention, the food was out of this... more

My hubby and I went there last week with high expectations. According to one poll, it was San Diego's favorite seafood restaurant, and the night we went, it was packed. But it turned into a big disappointment. It does not deserve all the local awards and accolades that it has won. - The salad was not very fresh. This being... more

Do not order the Diablo squid. It was so over spiced that I could not taste the rest of my meal. more

Amazing service, amazing food. It was a wonderful evening all around. The food was solidly prepared, with flair and creativity. All of our fish was prepared perfectly. The jumbo lump crab cake appetizer was also fantastic - better, in fact, than most I get on the east coast! Chef was unfortunately off-site that night, but we are confident he would... more

Check out Brian Malarkey who was in that Bravo show's Top Chef's final 3 in the 2007 season. Great raw bar, interesting preparations, large portions. A little hard to find..it's on the second floor of 4th and J St. diagonal from world market. more

Was anticipating a wonderful experience when I made reservations for December 20th, our anniversary, a week in advance for Oceanaire. The person making the reservation asked if this was a special occasion, I told her my anniversary. I had read about how the menus had your name on them and how special desserts were made for special occasions etc. So... more
