Our first visit and taste of Mexican food in San Diego

After our arrival in SD we went to join 2 friends in the old town and decided to have lunch in the Casa G. We are not very familiar with this cuisine and as we eat GF & do not like spicy, the server was very patient to explain the menu items and to suggest some small changes to the... read more

We received several recommendations for this restuarant so we had very high expectations. The service was quick and efficient but the food was bland and unappetizing. We had the vegetarian platter and it was very unimpressive. Not a single component was enjoyable. It lacked seasoning and was tasteless.

when told there was a 20+ minute wait for a able in the restaurant, we wandered into the bar and discovered an empty table for three in a corner. The cocktail waitress appeared, we asked if we could order dinner, the answer was, "Yes," so we did. I asked her what I should have, she told me, I ordered it,... More

After spending the morning wandering around Old Town, I stumbled across this place and decided to check it out for an option outside of the "obvious" choices within the park area. It was on the early side, so it wasn't too crowded and easy to get a table in the very cute outdoor patio area. I started with a yummy... More

Went for lunch while visiting in mid-March, sat in the bar area, maybe not the best place to fully enjoy the place as its noisy and lots of the people there are more for the drinks than the food. I’d go for the patio or main dining area for a better experience. The place wasn’t too full but the service... More

Made reservation for our 9 member group a week ahead. Glad we did as this is a very popular restaurant. All the ladies liked what they ordered...something to be said for the cooking here !

Friends took us to the Casa Guadalajara and we loved it. OK, so Mexican food is not my absolute favourite flavour (flavor), but if you take advice about what to order, then you'll enjoy what is served up. First of all it was suggested we have a jug of Margarita, and that was most acceptable. A great brew. The atmosphere... More

First of all I really do not like a whole lot of this kind of food but ordered beef tacos asking them to withhold the onion peper and a couple of other toppings. I was then told all there food is cooked with peppers and onions and they could not accomadate this. I let the wait staff know i would... More

Great location in Old Town but parking was a huge challenge. Ambiance of the restaurant was great. We sat at the bar while waiting on our table, they have a very large selection of margaritas. We were seated outside in the courtyard which was beautiful and added to the experience. The chips and salsa were tasty. Several of us had... More

Having looked at reviews tripadvisor and one other site, I selected Casa Guadalajara for an evening dinner for four while spending three days in San Diego in February. I can't say that we had a bad experience but it certainly wasn't a great experience. The food was average at best. Although we were in the restaurant at Happy Hour, we... More
