I have heard that the tarter sauce is made fresh everyday- true or not, it tastes soooo good! The sourdough bread is delicious. I order the fish sandwich every time I eat here, so I don't know too much about the other items on the menu. They have a lot of fresh fish that you can order to go and... more

I read all of the praise about Point Loma Seafoods and was excited to go. We ordered at the counter and, while waiting for our food, I checked out the seafood prices. The prices are HALF AGAIN higher than at Catalina Offshore Products or, even the Cardiff Market. Then came the food: way too heavily battered seafood, greasy from being... more

Ate here with my sister and my 2 year old daughter in June 2009. You order at a counter with about 4 lines. The menu has strange prices, like $8.32 for a tuna sandwich. They do not take credit cards (stupid, ridiculous, anger-inducing), so you have to dig out your cash (inconvenient when holding a small child). Then you go... more

From reading the reviews I was expecting something quite different. This is basically fast food fish takeout. I cannot say it was bad, but I wouldn,t return again or recommend this place to anyone. Being from the east coast, I can say things like the clam strips and soft shell crabs were just OK. Nothing to compare with Maine seafood. more

Stayed on Shelter Island for weeklong conference and ate at Point Loma Seafoods 3x. Food was fresh and delicious each time. Service was fast and we sat outside in the beautiful SD sun each time. Wished they were open for late dinner but completely satisfied with price and quality. Usually got a daily special and regular menu item to split.... more

We'd eaten here before and liked it, so when we returned to San Diego we decided to return. Nothing wrong with the place -- still very busy, still good food -- but the quality seemed to be down a notch, and the prices seemed higher than we remembered them. Okay, so I know inflation exists, and good seafood costs money,... more

Point Loma Seafoods is a San Diego institution. I've been going here for 10 years now and I love it. Is it the cheapest? No, but the food is quality and simply delicious. I enjoy that it is simple, and doesn't try to be overdone. If you like local San Diegan seafood then this is the place. I don't understand... more

Just returned from SD. We always eat at Point Loma Seafoods at least once per trip. We were very disappointed in our lunch. I had the blue crab sandwich and my husband had the fried cod. His cod was pretty ordinary. It looked like a Long John Silver's plate but was $12. My blue crab sandwich was actually just a... more

On a tip from our inn keeper, we visited Point Loma Seafood. We had their seafood taco special- ono tacos. Delicious. The ono was so tender and big chunks made up the taco. We had been enjoying seafood tacos at the Blue Water Grill and just could not decide which place we preferred. It's difficult when the fish is fresh!... more
