Great idea but not so great food

I had been wanting to visit this place after reading the reviews so we went for dinner. I used to be in the seafood business so I was impressed at how good all of the fish looked. Five stars based on the fish market! This review is based on the meal. We ordered the combo platter, ceviche, lobster... read more

We are from Colorado so we don't get the fresh seafood experience of places like this! We stopped for lunch and ate outside on the top deck so we could look out over the water and watch the boats. This place has some great beer on tap, so if you like good craft brew along with your fish n chips... More

I love fresh seafood, just look out the windows of this fish market and all you see are fishing boats... fresh! But, just because you sell beautiful fresh seafood is no guarantee that you can do it justice in the kitchen. Unfortunately this hugely successful and popular seafood restaurant doesn't have what it takes to make their beautiful ingredients sing...... More

We visit San Diego each year, and always stop at Point Loma Seafood for lunch directly after arriving at the airport -- it is less than 10 minutes away. The turnover is rapid, so you won't be in the parking queue for long. Fish baskets and sandwiches are all delicious, but anything with shrimp in it always tastes the best... More

We ate lunch here on a pretty day (the norm for San Diego). You walk inside and order from the busy counter. You wait until they call your number. We waited longer because they got our number wrong. We got sandwiches with fresh crab, and crab and shrimp. Both were quite good and loaded with crustaceans. We ate outside under... More

We were in SD five days and thankfully this great place was near our hotel on Shelter Island as we went twice for lunch. It's quite casual outdoor dining and very comfortable. Tried the ono plate and tacos as well as lobster roll and squid plates. Truly every meal was generous and full of fresh seafood flavor. Service was efficient... More

My wife and I were visiting her sister and husband here in San Diego, and for a nice break during one of days of grand touring, we stopped here for lunch. It's old news for those who frequent Point Loma Seafoods as to how the place works...you stand in a large waiting area, in line, while you figure out which... More

Awesome! Lay back atmosphere, best fresh seafood, with a great view to the marina. We got a combination of fried cod, shrimps and crab cake, DELICIOUS! We bought some calamari and scallops from their seafood market and cooked at home later that night....equally great! Loved it!

Think of your favorite deli. Now think seafood instead of meat and cheese. I eat here every trip to San Diego, sometimes twice if I am there long enough

Picture this: an array of fresh fish, shellfish and crab in a gorgeous market-style display greets visitors as they walk in. An overhead menu presents innumerable options for preparation. (Don't forget the suds!) Two stories of outdoor, harborside seating gives diners the option of soaking up rays or chilling in the shade while admiring marina activities set against downtown San...
