Outside dining - Good Food

Our experience was only marred by all the St. Patrick's day celebrations happening in the streets. It was early so we didn't have to witness anything too horrible, but the strereet band/dance pparty down the street made it difficult to talk to your tablemates. The good news I guess is that the... read more

If you are like king for a fabulous Italian dinner in the Gaslamp Quarter, look no further. We had the veal and seafood specials and also the parpadele. The only thing better than the food is the service. Superb dining experience all around.

As it was close to my hotel and ranked well in Urbanspoon, I wandered down to Osteria Panevino this evening. I got there early (about 6pm) and the place was already filling up. I had a meal at the bar (because they were busy) and Mel took great care of me. I had a Pomegranate Margarita and the seafood spaghetti... More

After a few disappointing meals in San Diego area, even in some popular high-end restaurants, and feeling a little nervous about eating Italian in the heart of the Gaslamp district believing the food and prices may be mediocre, and then seeing an almost campish menu (plastic like a Chinese restaurant menu), we were greatly surprised about everything with this restaurant.... This is a great place; good drinks, excellent food, great friendly service and a wide selection on the menu and wine list. Price is moderate. I went there three times on my one week stay in SD because there were so many things on the menu I wanted to try.

On a busy Saturday night we were able to get right in. The braised pork was outstanding as was the lobster ravioli. I thought it was reasonably priced as compared to other Gaslamp restaurants. Our server was excellent as well.

Of all the restaurants we visited during our week in San Diego, it was Panevino that we will remember years from now. We did not have a reservation and yet they managed to squeeze us in despite the convention traffic. We dined outside, on the sidewalk, and the server (who's name I have managed to forget) was absolutely perfect: funny,... More

My wife and I spent the weekend in the Gaslamp district to celebrate my birthday. There are dozens of restaurants in the area so the choices are limitless. We stopped at Panevino and could not have been more pleased. The food was some of the best italian food we have had in quite awhile, and we frequent what we consider... More

We were walking through the Gaslamp area looking for just the right place. There are many to look at, including quite a number of Italian places. We chose this one based upon the TA reviews and are we glad we did. The inside space is intimate and quiet enough for a nice conversation, but there is also outisde seating, with... More
