If you are in Rancho Bernardo you have to find this hidden Gem of a Resturant. It is hidden behind a Carls Jr next to a 7-Eleven and they have the best food, great staff. and the ambieance is what you would expect from a small Family business. Try the Meatballs and the Sausge w/ Pasta.. you can not go... More

Had dinner while on business. My husband had the Ceasar salad which had too much dressing. His shrimp fettuccine was very good. My lasagna was average. Service was fine.

Italian has never been particularly my favorite cuisine, but Mama Cella's definitely helped change that attitude. I figured, for one, that I have never really had well-made Italian food until here. I had an eggplant parmigiana, which comes with cheese and a side of spaghetti, which is more than sufficient for one person. The food is freshly-cooked, which means that... More

Quaint Italian restaurant with friendly staff and really good food! Lasagna and fettuccine were great. Close to the freeway.

Had a unexpected stay in Rancho Bernardo and just wanted to have a dinner within walking distance of our hotel. The chinese restaurant we initially planned to go to was closed so we decided to just look around and found Mama Cellas in a small strip mall and decided to give it a try, and glad we did. It was... I'm biased. I'm from New Haven Connecticut and although I've been in California since 1982, I still feel we have the BEST Italian food (pasta, pasta sauce and most of all the pizza) around. My 92 year old mother still makes the trek from her seniors' facility to go to Carmine's Tuscan Italian Grill in New Haven (I tell people... More

In a strip mall, surprised by quality and value of food. Visiting area for a wedding, about 8:30 pm, looking for something close to hotel. Place was very busy, but service spot on. Both pizza and pasta dishes were great.

The food was good (but my wife is Italian, so...) It is better than any chain Italian around here. My wife had the eggplant parm and I had the chicken parm to be safe on our first try. The eggplant was very good my wife said, and the chicken of the chicken parm was cooked just right. The sauce is... More

We were delighted to discover this gem in a local strip mall. We go at least once a week because there is no way I could replicate this food at home and we start yearning for it after just a few days. It is run by a family who are hard working and friendly.

I was in San Diego (Ranch Bernardo) recently, and stumbled upon this restaurant because it was walking distance from where we were staying. Being in a strip mall, my expectations were not very high. The service was really good. Our waiter was really good and was there every time we needed a refill. I was hesitant to just order the... More
