Great tasting food

We visited for lunch. Great menu at a very fair price in relation to portion size and taste. Very tasty in a homely sort of way. The portions size is huge and was very tasty. Very good service with a more mature type of service person

We stopped in while visiting San Diego's Little Italy one evening after having the desire for authentic, "Little Italy"-style pizza and we were not disappointed. This is a grocery store up front and a pizzeria in the rear. They serve many Italian dishes other than pizza and all look AMAZING! Prices are very fair. Service is decent. Definitely worth a... We were a large family celebrating a birthday. There are large portions - good! Very salty - bad! We were up all night drinking water after a large sausage and cheese pizza! Too much dough on the pizza and the sausage was not tasty. The lasagne and a very a large meatball added, again salty. An order of manicotti was sparse... More

First, Filippi's had packaged pasta I have seen nowhere else - so I bought it. The pizza was outstanding (we had the 8-topping), and the antipasto salad was delicious! Plus, Little Italy was like being in NYC. Loved it!

Good spot for the family to enjoy home cooked Italian pizza and pasta. Nothing overly fancy or pretentious here...simple food, done well.

We would never have found this place without the advice of our concierge. The front of the restaurant looks like a small Italian delicatessen in the midst of San Diego’s Little Italy. The restaurant is at the end of the small grocery store and opens into several storefronts that have been converted into the eatery. The place is packed with... More

I've been dining at Filippi's Pizza Grotto for decades! The food, ambiance, and the friendliness of the staff all combine to make this one of my favorites. The pizzas, pastas, salads, etc. are all generously sized, and very flavorful. If you like thick, chewy crust on your pizza, you can't go wrong with any of the pies; my favorite is... More

After hearing from my dad that I had to try this place I was expecting something great. Our server was very friendly and helpful but my dinner and my moms was served cold. Just average overall and wouldn't go back with so many other choices nearby that look cool.

I am a biased consumer when it comes to Pizza Grotto. I litterally grew up across the street at 1730 India when they first opened, so I miss the smell of the cheeses hanging from the ceiling and the feel of Sicily in America. BTW, I'm not Italian, but you remember those places you grew up with. Today they have... More
