This place has remained the same since I first visited it 40 years ago! The food was excellent and adequate. The help (Irene) was great and made our visit very enjoyable. I wish it was closer.

We loved the experience of walking in through the market and deli with all the traditional Italian products. I am bringing home special balsamic vinegar as a souvenir! Five of us enjoyed the pasta and Parmesan dishes this week in Little Italy. I had my FAV spaghetti and a Bigga! meatball, and the sauce was incredible! Sauce a pasta lover... More

Or waiter was a very nice lady that has the small service area as you enter thru the market to your unmediated left. Sit here. She is wonderful! We had a half Anchovies/Onion Pizza. It was excellent and a small Antipasto, plenty for the 2 of us. We had a bottle of wine, it was good quality. A very nice... More

This grotto found behind a little Italian bodega in San Diego's 'little Italy' is wonderful. We had great food and service. The cucina sent our food out fast and hot. From the garlic bread to the cannoli - everything was awesome and the portions were enormous. I didn't bat an eye on dropping $100 on our dinner.

This was our third visit to Filippi's, No trip to San Diego is complete without dinner at Filippi's. This is the quintessential Italian restaurant that should be in every neighborhood in America. There's nothing fancy here - just a good hearty selection of pizzas, pastas, soups, sub sandwiches and dinners - at prices that won't break your budget. My wife... More

While looking for a restaurant in Little Italy, my husband and I walked down a street pausing to review a handful of restaurant's menus while deciding where we wanted to eat. Then we came to Filippi's. It looked casual from the outside. We entered through a small, narrow Italian grocery store. The smell was fantastic! Our decision was made without... More

Pizza and other food is good, large portions and not too expensive. Walk in past the deli and little store and its a fun atmosphere with hanging Chianti bottles and candlelit tables. There is a sunny covered area if you prefer to eat more all fresco. The special pizza was very European style which was a nice change from most... More

The 8 of us entered thru a narrow store aisle into a dining room that seemed like it came out of a charming old-fashioned Italian kitchen. Wine bottle baskets hung from the ceiling and the aromas from the kitchen made my mouth water. I smelled the hint of garlic and freshly made bread and what I guessed was a delicious... More

We have been here twice and are going back in November. We always try and get here for pizza. It's just damn good. I saw a meatball the size of my head go by our table last time I was there. Never tried the meatballs. Maybe in November.
