On each visit to see family in La Jolla, my husband and I make a special point to eat here. We stumbled upon it and are so glad we did. For my money, it's the best ribeye steak we've ever had. Service is gracious and professional. Decor is nice. Great wine list. more
I have eaten steak in several places across USA and have found the steak here to be excellent. It was the second best steak I have had in the USA. (The first was somewhere in New Orleans 4 years ago) The atmosphere for a group was great and I found the staff exceptionally helpful. more
When we arrived at Donovan's, our party was ushered into a back room which appeared to be for those taking advantage of San Diego restaurants week (a week in the year when exclusive restaurants offer a fixed price 3 course meal at a price "ordinary" folk can afford). Both my wife and I had chewy, grisley (sp?) nearly inedible steaks. How do they charge that much? Outback is way better!!!! more

My husband is a Fillet Fanatic so I wanted to treat him to the best one I could find for his birthday. All of your reviews brought me to Donovan's. (As soon as our plane landed and we checked in to the hotel we went to the Wine & Culinary Center and had the nicest lunch and bottle of wine!!... more
