I make it a habit to try the corned beef hash when I go out for breakfast. Cafe 222's version is in the top 10 I've ever eaten. This little cafe is squeezed in a residential district in the older part of downtown San Diego. We had a little table outside; the people watching is part of its charm. As... More

We had an unbelievably delicious breakfast--waffles, biscuits, potatoes, and chicken-fried steak. We were absolutely wow'ed by the flavors and generous portions. Our waitress was also really sweet. The wait for a table was long on a Sunday morning, and then the kitchen was also slow. But still all totally worth it for the delicious food and reasonable prices.

Great inexpensive breakfast. I would recommend if you don't want to pay absurd hotel prices across the street. I had the Joe's veggie frittata and my spouse had the tamales and eggs. Both were fantastic.

Visited Cafe 222 several times during a recent visit to San Diego. The cafe is always busy but even so the wait times did not seem too long. First day sat on a raised patio which was probably the best place surrounded with greenery and with views out towards the bay. Other days we sat on the outside streetside patio... More

Excellent food. Fantastic, friendly service. Great coffee. Good location. The only ''negative'' was the turkey bacon but the pumpkin waffle was so delicious that I'll forgive them this porkless transgression.

Ate here near the end of our week in San Diego. Wish we had of found it earlier so we could have made it back once more. 8 of us went there and no one had any complaints. The service was great and the food was delivered hot and quickly. If you like fried potatoes you will love this place.... More

Went to 222 for breakfast twice during a conference. The first time I had cappucino and a scone, the second time an omelette with hashbrowns. The cappucino was really good, so was the scone, and the egg dish was delicious but too enormous. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Come early,

I had the peanut butter banana stuffed French toast and my wife had the eggs italia. Mine was ok. I probably wouldn't order it again. Once was enough. My wife loved hers. Would defiantly go back again.

Our breakfast was good. Nothing to write home about, but better than average. I doubt you could find something on the menu that was bad.
