Used to go to Jasmine or Emerald. Now I just go to ChinaMax for a good hearty meal. I would recommend - crab cake, deep fried oysters, lamb chop (medium rare) and scallops with black bean sauce. Oh, yes, the Peking duck is excellent. more

This is one of the few "small" authentic Hong Kong style restaurant in San Diego. You most likely not going to get the same style of food and services as PF Chang, the extremely opposite of China Max. Wonton Soup was Shui Mai dumpling instead of wonton. I got the feeling they were left over from the Dim sum previously served at lunch, since it had a sort of fish smell. We didn't touch it. Food was brought out one item at a time. Rice would have been brought last I suppose, if we hadn't asked for it.... more
