Went there with a friend a couple of days ago, ordered a soup and their Pekin Duck, it was very good, and service was great too, will definitively come back!

The best Chinese food in West Coast! Every time I go to San Diego, I have to stop by and have my favorite duck dish. I also love the atmosphere, friendly service and reasonable price.

But it's very good. There are no carts rolling around with all the items since you order off a menu with pictures so you're fairly certain of what you'll get. They have lots of standards, like chicken feet and dumplings, plus some or the more usual main dishes too. The place is packed for lunch, especially on the weekends, so... More

Always have dim sum when we visit San Diego which we do at least annually, and been using China Max for the last ten years because of its reliably good food with a quite extensive menu. You order your dim sum dishes on a form by checking off the items you desire, and then each item comes to your table... More

San Diego is not the capital of Chinese food, particularly Dim Sum, but this is outstanding!! Great selection, reasonable prices, great lunch/dinner!!!

although pricey, food was very good, however, service was terrible. my wife and I arrived when there weren't many other patrons. we were seated, given menus, then had to wait forever for a server to take our order. they were just standing around. after our meal, we had to wait again for the check. manager was talking to guests at... The restaurant was crowded, with some large groups being served. Food was quite good, but when the bill was presented, it contained an item which we had ordered but they never served. We had alerted them in advance of the missing item. When they corrected the bill, they then added a TEA charge of a dollar per person. We had... More

The name, China Max, stands for maximum price. Service was not good, though a norm with most asian restaurants, with this kind of price, would expect good service. Taste of food was good. The appetizer, crab cake, was very good. The fresh fish was good but pricey, $22/lb. Garlic chicken was ok. The tofu hot pot was good.

Rude service, they brought me the bill just after they brought my entree a not so fresh and very expensive crab (50$) . Avoid this place at all cost!
