The ultimate Peking Duck experience

If you want Asian food in San Diego, go to Kearny Mesa. We went for dinner on a Wednesday and were a little disappointed when they told us dim sum was only during lunch that day. However, their Peking duck was awesome! The service was fast!! A team of waitresses quickly brought out the duck... read more

I would not necessarily have thought of dim sum for Sunday brunch, but it really does work ! Met up with friends over a leisurely brunch and it was excellent. Outside of Hong Kong, this has to be the best dim sum I have tasted & the steamed broccoli is to die for ( amongst everything else !) You would... More

Our town has only fast-food Chinese eateries and it's real treat to not only find but also enjoy a great Chinese restaurant! While visiting family in San Diego of course we turned to TripAdvisor for a recommendation and number one was China Max. Naturally we made a reservation for Saturday night to be sure and have a table. And lo... More

I went here as Yelp said they had Xiao Long Bao, they do not. In retrospect, I'm glad. The Shu Mai and steamed shrimp dumpling (not Har Gow) are variations on same dumpling, with and without pork. Wrapper was properly thin, but filling was bland for each. The potstickers had extremely thick and bad textured wrappers. They weren't crisp, but... More

This is my go to place for what I consider the best dim sum in San Diego. Decided to try the chinese food for dinner last night. The service is consistently average at best, always a bit on the slow side despite it being almost empty as we arrived at 4:30. Ordered the honey walnut shrimp which was delicious. Good... More

I love this place. I came here with my girlfriend, her folks and some of their family and had a really good meal. Because there were so many of us, we ordered a bunch of different things to spin around ye olde lazy susan on the table and sample. Straight into it, the restaurant is brightly lit, but not too... We were visiting from out of town and our friend brought us here. We ordered few dishes to share and ordered one or two for our own. In the end, our bill came out to $80 for lunch for 3 people. Pretty pricey if you asked me but hey at least we left with full tummy. The food was good... More

I love china max, there is an amazing quantity of dishes, everything is so delicious; the Peking duck, Roasted duck, Kung pao chicken, General tso chicken, Rod cod filet in black bean sauce (so tasty). The mango pudding is like to be in heaven. China max has been the best Chinese restaurant for seven years in a row in San... More

Once again I wonder about some people, I read reviews of places that most say are great but a few act like they were force fed poison. Maybe they just had a bad day. We ate at China Max last weekend, I had seen it rated as best Chinese in the San Diego Magazine for several years but had never... More
